Not much happened this time around. Just more information gathering shenanigans.

It looks to me like your theories from last week are more and more likely. The book strongly hints in that direction at the moment. If it is not a misdirect, which I don’t expect at the moment, then you’ll are pretty good detectives. That would also kinda explain why the book insists on 美也子 bing so ugly. She wasn’t targeted because of it.

I found it hilarious how 浅見 plays on his connections without 野上 knowing anything about it. Made me chuckle quite a bit. Who the hell thinks 1 month paid vacation is any kind of punishment.

When 野上 just went out of 山崎屋 without asking the old guy which suicide he meant I nearly lost my shit. Luckily, he finally got his wits together and made the connection in the end…

ikr?? Fortunately he realized pretty quickly… Also Asami’s speculation on the three men ended up being correct, good for him.

Also, random thought I had: what if it’s Kiriyama? He’s young and from the region so would fit in the general age bracket, right? And I don’t think we got a particular description of him (making him nondescript). He could use his badge to get in and out of the train station, which wouldn’t leave a ticket trail. And I think his treatment of Nogami is exactly in line with what he’d do if he was the killer and trying to put up a token investigation but make sure that none of his subordinates ever actually got to the truth… (The most reasonable suspect would be some random guy we haven’t met yet, but of the named characters so far Kiriyama feels the most killer-y to me.)

Haha you mean just because he’s a lazy asshole, that makes him a good killer? Interesting conclusion :rofl:

Now that’s an interesting observation. I mean, why would the author clue us in on this particular benefit of being a policeman, if it’s not being used for anything in the end? :thinking:

I also think Kiriyama is involved somehow. The sus brother at the beginning seems less likely and also the family being all fancy also seems less and less relevant? I want things to come together but I kind of feel like this author is just throwing out random red herrings for the hell of it
