[Web App] Wanascope — Track Your Progress, Plan Reviews, and Predict Level-Ups

:warning: Third-party app disclaimer

Wanascope is an independent community project and is not created, affiliated with, or supported by the WaniKani team. It may stop working or be discontinued at any time.

Wanascope was inspired by community tools such as Kakehashi, Wanilog, and WKStats. After receiving feedback on the original version, I rebuilt it from the ground up with a different workflow and its own visual identity.

Hi everyone!

I started building Wanascope at level 4 because I kept wondering:

When will I level up, and which reviews matter most?

Missing an important review can delay later SRS stages and push back your level-up. I wanted one place to see what needs attention now, what is coming next, and whether taking more lessons today is realistic.

So I built Wanascope

Wanascope is a free, read-only WaniKani companion that helps you decide what to study and when:

  • Today — See reviews due now, level progress, blocking kanji, and your recommended next action.
  • Plan — Get a realistic lesson recommendation based on your goals and upcoming workload.
  • Forecast — Explore upcoming review waves, schedules, and level-up-path items.
  • Progress — Track your pace, Level 60 projection, kanji coverage, and daily study history.
  • Reader — Analyze Japanese text using your WaniKani kanji and vocabulary progress.

:lock: Private and read-only

Your API token and synced data stay locally in your browser. Wanascope cannot submit reviews, start lessons, or modify your WaniKani account.

You can also explore the full app in demo mode without connecting an account.

Feedback, suggestions, and bug reports are always welcome!

Why are you copying people’s apps 1:1? This looks like a complete Wanilog rip off without crediting the author. You’re level 4 go focus on studying instead of using chatGPT to copy people’s websites :sob:

Thanks for the feedback.

You’re right that I took inspiration from existing tools like Wanilog and WKStats. I used both while learning WaniKani, and they definitely influenced some of the layout and the kinds of information I wanted to surface.

That said, my goal wasn’t to recreate them. I built Wanascope because I personally wanted features that I couldn’t find in one place, especially seeing every upcoming review session, identifying the exact items blocking my next level, and estimating my earliest possible level-up.

I’m still new to WaniKani and also new to building tools for the community, so I’m sure there’s plenty I can improve. If there are areas where you think the UI is too similar, I’m happy to keep evolving it over time.

I appreciate you taking the time to check it out.

Great AI generated reply, proving my point  For anyone looking for third party tools just use wanilog.com (what hes ripping from)

Yeah, I use AI to help me because English it’s not my native language. I’ve updated the post to acknowledge Wanilog as one of my inspirations. Thanks for pointing that out. In short, everyone has the right to use whatever tool they like

Quick update: Wanascope has been updated with several improvements since the first post

The project is still being maintained, and I’ll keep improving it based on feedback.

Thanks again to everyone who has tried it!

Hi! I reached level 7 a few days ago :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’ve also released a major Wanascope update!

After hearing that the first version felt too similar to other stats tools, I rebuilt the app with a new workflow and its own visual identity.

Wanascope is now organized around four main sections:

  • Today — See what needs your attention now.
  • Plan — Get a realistic daily study plan.
  • Forecast — Explore upcoming reviews and workload.
  • Progress — Track your pace, Level 60 projection, and kanji coverage.

I also redesigned the navigation and homepage, where you can now try a live demo before connecting your account.

There’s still plenty to improve, so all feedback—good or bad—is welcome. Thanks to everyone who tried the early version! :slightly_smiling_face:

Small Wanascope update! :slightly_smiling_face:

The biggest addition is Reader. Paste any Japanese text to:

  • Highlight kanji and vocabulary from WaniKani.
  • Check your text coverage.
  • Hear readings and inspect item details.
  • Find words you haven’t learned yet.

I also improved:

  • Review and level-up timelines in Today and Forecast.
  • Blocking Kanji, with clearer SRS progress and next steps.
  • Progress-sharing cards.
  • Mobile UI, navigation, colors, and transitions.
  • Accessibility and various bugs.

Feedback is always welcome. Thanks for trying Wanascope! :slightly_smiling_face:

Quick update — Wanascope v1.3.0 is live! :tada:

The main addition is Progress History. Starting with your next complete refresh, Wanascope will track daily changes in:

  • Lessons and review activity.
  • Accuracy and Apprentice workload.
  • Passed and burned items.

I’ve also improved:

  • Study recommendations in Today and Plan.
  • Kanji details across the app.
  • The desktop Forecast schedule.
  • Data refreshing and UI stability.

Note: Progress History starts recording from this update onward, so earlier days cannot be recreated.

Thanks to everyone who has tried Wanascope. Feedback is always welcome! :slightly_smiling_face:

Quick update — Wanascope v1.4.0 is live! :tada:

  • Study Rhythm — View your lessons and reviews across the last 3, 6, or 12 months.
  • Share Progress — Create shareable cards for your level journey and kanji coverage.
  • Progress & Reader — Enjoy a clearer roadmap and easier-to-understand Reader results.

Feedback is always welcome. Thanks for trying Wanascope! :slightly_smiling_face:

Still balancing building Wanascope with studying, but I finally made it to Level 8! :tada:
Slow and steady !

Quick update — Wanascope v1.5.0 is live! :tada:

Customize Today lets you pin, reorder, resize, or hide widgets — and reset the layout anytime. This update also brings private backups, richer activity insights, and easier sharing.

Thank you for trying Wanascope and for all your feedback! :slightly_smiling_face:
