Hey everyone 👋

Me and my brother [posted here](https://community.wanikani.com/t/we-made-a-chrome-extension-for-learning-japanese-with-crunchyroll-%F0%9F%9F%A0%F0%9F%92%A7/65643/17) about year and a half ago about our chrome extension for learning Japanese on Crunchyroll called ManabiDojo. Since then we’ve been working on a new extension, this time for learning Japanese with manga. Today we’ve [released it on chrome web store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/manabidojo-learn-japanese/iobpkelbcmabijmogmmlmemalcppckje), so feel free to check it out!

For the record, it requires a subscription to use (there’s a free trial), since the infrastructure behind this is pretty expensive.

Current features:

- **OCR (Text detection)**
- **Sentence parsing and dictionary lookups**
- **AI explanations**
- **Sentence translations**
- ⭐ **Wordbook:** Collect words and sentence breakdowns and level them up through reviews and quizzes!

**Disclaimer⚠**
This extension is still very early into development. If you experience any issues or bugs, please report them on our discord server or e-mail: [manabihime@gmail.com](mailto:manabihime@gmail.com).

**Currently we’re working on:**

- Support for bookwalker.jp
- In-context translation in the dictionary popup for each chunk
- A fun loop for learning and tracking new words

Update:
Over time we’ve added support for bookwalker.jp and in-context translations in the popup.
We also rebranded the extension quiet a bit!
In addition to manga it now also works with any text-content on the internet, e.g. NHK Easy news, Youtube subtitles, and more.

Update:
Added some new OCR features to the Web extension that include

- Youtube OCR mode that runs OCR on pause (works with hard-coded subs, signs etc.)
- Global bounding box (area selection) OCR that works everywhere
