I end up creating a tab-separated *.txt from /t/WaniKani-Context-Sentences/15226/1; and then paste the sentence manually into WaniKani vocab export. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4348882/WK%20sen.txt
I also get sound files as a bonus. I skipped the long media sync by unchecking media sync in Anki; and copy and paste the media folder manually into the smartphone.
It would be nice if I could append “WK sen.txt” to “vocabulary.txt”, so that I could get the context sentence and the sound file. I know I can do this in C, and probably in Python. But, I haven’t done any programming in a long time. I will have to relearn everything.
Is WaniKani a path to programming?

@dennmart I’m not that familiar with anki. Could you explain how I can implement the text file into anki? I’m using the mobile version “AnkiDroid” right now.

Cool, I somehow did it (it’s my first time using Anki). It’s looking good. Now I have a question, My anki desk gets feeded automacly with my critical items or I have to dowload the text note and import them again ??

It’s just a text file, not automatic. You’ll have to import them periodically.

Hi, I am trying to import the text files generated into anki, but they don’t seem to come out right. The front looks like k_精; and the back says kanji. Is there a way to get the kanji in the front and both the meanings and the readings on the back? I don’t know if I am not choosing the right import options?

Had similar issues importing. I followed the instructions and helped solved my issue. However, I would like to figure out how to make it to where I can type in my answers. I tried following the same steps but with “type in the answer” note type but ran into issues.
Very nice. Thank you for making this public. I would make one small recommendation and that is to add a range variable to the ‘specific levels’ option rather than just commas. i.e. 1-10,13,5-20 This way I can download larger groups of levels rather than having to put a comma between each level. Just wanted to say thank you for this ! I found it doing a search last month. I’ve customized the cards a bit and I’ve been using it to create reverse decks in my native French + study kanji stroke order and writing (using the Kanji Stroke Order font). Basically, once I finish a level I import the kanji and vocab (and make sure that the new items I get everyday are in level order, so it doesn’t influence with my memory on Wanikani too much for recent items). This makes it so easy! Thank you !
I know this question could sound stupid, but any chance this service could be upgraded to work with APIv2?
The more reasonable request is any other similar way to export my burnt WK items into Anki deck so I could practice writing them or reserse-learning, etc
P.S. it’s still in general The New And Improved List Of API and Third Party Apps list, so that’s the only reason I write it here, assuming it still could be alive
I am the author of the Item Inspector script. It can export Wanikani data to a spreadsheet software. Then you can reexport the file in a format accepted by Anki. You may try that out if you want. I have plans to improve the export feature. I will make it so that it is easy to export to Anki. In the mean time I suggest you take a look at Item Inspector.

Guess you may want to add special line about this feature in general script list. I mean, when I was there, I just put “Anki” in search field and watched all mentions on page.
Your script doing this job cool, so I guess it deserves mentioning it as some side feature.
P.S. Though I feel like it lacks a bit abundance of possible information to export. Like, it doesn’t distinguish on- and kun- readings for kanjis; not denoting part of speech for vocab, etc - though WK API provides all this info afaik. Would be super-duper cool if you could consider to advance this direction - I mean, exporting stuff from WK into spreadsheets.
