ため can also mean something like “as a result of” でしょう？
So maybe the phrase is modifying “party” to say something like “preparing for party resulting in friendship-deepening”, which can then be more widely interpreted to be that translation?
I’m not entirely sure if that’s correct, and I don’t think I explained that very well, but maybe you can make sense of what I’m trying to say

I’ve seen mixed info on this, but from what I know, ために generally means “As a result” and “ため” means “For the sake of”. So the translation turns to:
For the sake of deepening our friendship, we’re preparing a party.

It means something along the lines of “We’re preparing a party to promote friendship”.

Yeah I know about both uses of ため but the sentence structure looks like (…ためのパーティ)を, not ため、…準備, I’d venture the friendship deepens only during the party, not during the prep. The english sentence structure and meaning are both way different.
(also isn’t it the other way, ために is “for the sake of” and ため・ためで is “as a result”?)

The thing is, when something sounds too weird, it’s probably an idiom. If you enter 親睦を深める into Weblio, you’ll notice it’s a common expression. Depending on context, a more natural translation might be We’re preparing a party to get to know each other better.
You’re right about the deepening of friendship ocurring during the party, not the preparation.

I can’t really find a way to explain the reason for this, aside from saying “hey, I’m 保守的”, but I kind of feel like I offended this word by thinking [and typing in] that it meant orgy when it doesn’t.

ために can be both a synonym for だけに (as a result of) or ように (for the sake of). The に just changes how it functions in the sentence.
Edit: @rodrigowaick and @bblum have it. The 親睦を深める modifies ため. That ため, being a noun, uses の to modify パーティー. That パーティー has を attached to it, which indicates direct object status. Finally, 準備してます is the verb.
Altogether that translates to “We are preparing the party that will deepen our friendship”.
