I love this app just as much as the next person, however I was missing the ENG-JP version. I found the Kaniwani link, but for some reason I cannot sign in, I even tried chaning password, different devices and using both email and username. Does anyone know why this is and/or how I could solve this?

Kaniwani doesn’t use your Wanikani credentials, the two websites aren’t officially related.
You need to make a Kaniwani account, then feed it your WK API key (it should be explained how) for it to sync with your WK progress.
