I love WaniKani, it is such a creative and fun way of learning the Kanji.
It is just a bit inconvenient that there is no App. Would love to do WaniKani wherever I am ![]()
Much love!!

You could try this:
The website works just fine on a phone.
There’s not even a difference anymore between app and website. I think what most people want are an ability to do theirs offline and sync when they connect again to the web. Just buy a data plan? I pay $100 for 4 lines with unlimited data.
How else do you plan on joining the face-in-smartphone zombie army?
Tsurukame for IOS
Smouldering Durtles for Android
And yes having an app is much better than using the web version, because getting scripts working on mobile is a giant pain in the butt (especially on iOS), and it’s so nice to have the ability to Undo or change review order. I can’t imagine ever going back to doing WK on mobile web.
Official app would be nice but (and I am aware I’m far from first to mention it) the tsurukame app is wonderful for iOS users. I do my reviews about 50/50 on there and regular desktop WK
Not sure if anybody has mentioned it, but the Tsurukame app is a great if you’re on iOS. It has a lot of customization options, and it’s nice to be able to get some practice in when you’re on a plane or otherwise removed from the internet.
The webbapp is superb. It works in mobile and in desktop, it’s customizable, it can be infinitely extended by the community. Try to do that with a native app.
For WK as a company probably there is no benefit in releasing native apps. There’s no standardization, meaning you need to maintain different versions for different OSes, which costs a lot. App developers are at the mercy of the platforms. Then in the case of Apple they take a 30% cut of any payment!
As a consumer, if there is a web alternative you should almost always go with that. You have a better control of your privacy, you help foster a more robust, open, standards based internet.
Just downloaded this app.
This app is great.
