I’ve been studying (~1hr) for just a couple of days and I’m already feeling overwhelmed. I live in Japan and have been cruising on basic Japanese. I go to classes but don’t review and I’ve realised I’ve forgotten tons of vocab and kanji I used to know (I kept staring at 泳ぐ thinking how 氷 could be a verb )
I studied an hour a day at the end of the December and gave up. I was spreading myself thin because I kept jumping from one study method to another.
I take classes every week so I didn’t completely give up but zero 復習.
My current method is going through my Wanikani kanji list, looking at the vocab and making written flash cards. Also cross checking to see if I studied it already with my Minna no Nihongo textbooks as my teachers gave me extra vocab too. I’m at about 6/750ish. I guess I can skip the super simple ones so maybe it’s closer to 6/700ish.
The system works. So unfortunately I’ve forgotten a lot of the guru/enlightened items and my correct rate is 40-60%. But today 紙 came through and I got it straight away thanks to my written flashcards
I’m also writing radicals for each kanji on the flashcards which I think will help.
Did some WK reviews this morning
Added some flashcards (currently at 13 kanji, 5-10 relevant vocab on each card)
Listened to a podcast on the train (Natural Japanese Listening)
Watched a bit of this grammar vid…[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yECmEMgKWuM]
I really like the speed of revision esp because it’s grammar I’ve covered
Tomorrow I’ll probably do much, much less and focus on flashcards and Saturday I have a study session planned with a friend so hopefully more then.
