Perfect timing, a friend of mine just recommended this to me like two days ago!
Reminder that the next upcoming book club is 蟲師!
There’s also a bit less than a month until the next vote. As simias’s proposition was highly upvoted and no riot was formed to protest (unlike that time where I wanted the poll results to be hidden while we vote xD), we will apply their suggestion for the next poll. We can always reevaluate later
As a reminder:
Hi everyone, the first week’s thread is up for Mushishi!
Oops forgot to say that I will post the Nomination poll in 2 days!!
There are still 3 spots open for nominations, if you have something that you think might be interesting for this club, nominate now!
Vote for the next book - now!
The poll will close automatically 2025-06-18T10:00:00Z.
The IMC is currently reading 蟲師, last week of reading is July 5th, so the book we vote for now will start on July 19th.
Can I vote?
If you are interested in joining the next book club we run, you can - and should - vote!
Difficulty Scores
Difficulty scores come from Natively (if available). Natively is a large community of language learners where users rate the difficult of books they’ve read against others they’ve read and uses an ELO system to determine the relative difficulty. Because of the rating system the ratings without ?? should be reasonably accurate, but the levels with ?? are just an initial guess that must be taken with a pinch of salt.
How does the vote work?
The poll will close automatically.
You can vote for up to 5 options.
You can change your vote at any time by clicking ‘Show vote’ at the bottom.
The book with the most votes will be our next pick.
If there is a tie for the winner, we will pick the book that has the oldest nomination date.
Have a look at the nominations:
- The nomination post for each manga is linked in the poll (the number link [1.]) and is also in the first post of this thread
- The Natively link is also in the poll, the “LXX” link
- There is also a Natively list of the current nominations
Time to vote for the 9th pick of the IMC

Oh yeah unfortunately I can’t change the poll anymore, unless I delete and make a new one. I’ll write a note above the poll. Thanks for catching it!
Oh, 4-way tie right now.
A top contender, 日本の歴史 is half-priced for the whole series, though no free trial. Also, I am not sure how often this one get discounted. It’s also this price in other sources.
魔入りました!入間くん, is half-priced and 50% coinback for the first 15 volumes. In addition, those 15 volumes are free to read for a limited time (in 6 days) if you want to take a glimpse ahead. I think it’s only discounted in Bookwalker.
Good thing we instituted new tie break rules!
Of the four current leaders, three of them were nominated on March 13th last year (in my timezone, anyway), with just hours separating them.
海月姫 came first, right?
It did not.
I confess I’m mildly reluctant to discuss which nomination would win a tie for fear that such a discussion would influence votes, though in all fairness, that information is right here for anyone to see.
The obvious solution to this dilemma is that everyone should vote for Dr Stone. That would solve all problems.
Oh right it’s the 歴史 one, followed by 海月姫, followed by ハクメイ.
The fourth tie is a very recent submission.
I think it’s better if it’s in the open. If people want to use this information to strategize with their votes, I say let them.
But then again I want to read the 歴史 one so NOBODY MOVE!
Weird… I thought I had submitted 4 votes the other day, and I don’t see my own pfp in the tally!
Re-done
(sorry, Simiasさん)
