[userscript] Transform on'yomi readings into katakana 2.1.4

#1

Hello,
I've made a userscript that transforms any onyomi reading from hiragana into katakana on Wanikani.

Pictures :

Current version : 2.1.4

Download link : https://greasyfork.org/scripts/747-wanikani-on-yomi-in-katakana

Git hub : https://github.com/thenn42/Wanikani-On-yomi-in-katakana

Changelog:

2.1.4 SSL support

2.0.3 Kanji data update

2.0.0 client side lessons

1.9.1 level 48,49,50

1.9 support for kanji listed on vocabulary pages

1.8 level 46+47 and support for the new reviews summary

1.7 added support for kanji listed on radicals'page.

1.6 support for client side reviews

1.4-5 level -> 45

1.3: level 41

1.2: added support for level 39 and 40.

It should work with Tampermonkey and ninjakit on Chrome and Greasemonkey on firefox.
I've never programmed in Javascript before so don't hesitate to let me know if it doesn't work properly ^^.

Use Katakana for onyomi readings

Cool.  This seems like something that several people have wanted as an option.

#3

Awesome. As soon as I get on laptop, I will try this.

Wow, it works perfectly (well, at least for me, btw Firefox user)~ Quite a powerful tool, too. Thanks a lot!! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

Does it affect the correct answers on reviews?

No, it doesn't because switching between hiragana and katakana would probably make reviews take much more time.^^
So yeah, answers have to be put in hiragana.

However, the hidden information box (when you click on the little eye) does give the reading in katakana.

How are long vowels dealt with? like とう, will it show as トー?

EDIT: Looks like jisho is not using ー in the onyomi readings aswell so never mind.

Great script, installed it. Very thanks.

You made realize I did a stupid mistake. I put a ー instead of a ッ in my script. Sorry about that ^^
I don’t know if there are much kanji with a small  ッ in their on’yomi reading but I fixed it in version 1.1 (Tampermonkey and Greasemonkey should update automatically).

I think that only loanwords use a ー for long vowels but I can always add it as an option if someone is interested .

I LOVE THIS!! ^^^^^^^

I have one little (maybe stupid) question.
Why do you want on’yomi to be written in katakana? Is it because on’yomi are loan words from China and foreign words are written in katakana?

It's the traditional way to represent onyomi, so you can distinguish them at a glance from kunyomi.

I really should use this… but my brain is so quick with hiragana and so slow to read katakana! I need the practice, but lazy Jo says no!

So I will say ‘thanks!’ and ‘awesome!’ anyway, even though I’m sticking to the lazy option.

Thanks for updating.

 You're welcome :)

Did the automatic update work or did you have to download it again?
