Tobaccoless days: 623.
ゼルダの伝説 時のオカリナ
葬送のフリーレン。第15巻。第143話:読み合い
I looked up the reading for 水面下 (すいめんかunder the water’s surface; behind closed doors; under the surface Anime Top 30K).. And I thought that I was probably wasting my time, because I’d probably never see it or hear it again… And here it is!
Yeah, and it was also the name of chapter 130 in the previous volume ![]()

I don’t have such a useful tool, so, who knows, purrhaps I too am just a purrt of someone’s dream… ![]()
Come to think of it, even if I had such a tool, how could I be sure that its readings are not part of the dream too? ![]()
I always wonder Trunkie, do you pick your favourite page to share after you finish reading your chapter of Frieren for the day? Do you ever have trouble choosing?
I do indeed! ![]()
I obviously want to avoid any spoilers, or at least any serious spoilers.
So, I purrefer either something related to the general lore of the world, or some funny situation, or some ordinary conversation. A snapshot that wouldn’t reveal too much. Ideally, I aim for a single screenshot, but I also want it to be a complete piece of conversation and not something cut off midsentence, which is why I often share more than one screenshot at a time.
This all can be quite challenging at times, but always fun! ![]()
Sometimes I have trouble finding anything non-spoilery and sometimes there are so many good candidate pages that I have trouble choosing ![]()
I trust Trunkslayer to show any panels that happen to have a cat in them.

And so, I’ve finished Frieren.
147 chapters. 147 days of great adventure.
Well, when I say “finished” – I mean all the volumes that have been published.
I don’t know when they start making new volumes again and I don’t know how much of them there would be, but I’d say the series needs at the very least two more volumes to be at least somewhat properly finished – one volume to end the current arc and one volume to end the series. However, that’s the absolute minimum and I really hope they’d make more than that.
Even the current arc alone – could use more than one more volume, even though it already took 2 (started at the end of vol. 13 was spread through volumes 14 and 15)
I strongly disagree with him, but at least now I understand where he is coming from. Reminds me of some of Ray Bradbury’s stories about people who decided that technology is evil, because it allows making such horrible weapons… They argue that while fighting is in the human nature, without technology humans are limited in how much damage they can do. They do, however, ignore the fact that technology also saves a lot of lives and that even without it humans can still do a lot of damage. Same applies to magic in Frieren’s world.
It’s a pity that someone who genuinely wants to make the world better – tries to get rid of the thing that can and does help the world. And not only that, but he is also prepared to kill a lot of people to achieve that…
Congratulations on currently finishing Frieren

Congrats on finishing freiren, hopefully the next manga is just as good ![]()
Thank you! ![]()
This is actually a very good question ![]()
Originally, I planned on 蟲師。
It would have been ideal for one chapter purr day reading, because it is a slow manga which doesn’t give you the urge to binge-read. I originally thought Frieren was like that as well, but turned out Frieren had a lot of surprises. So, in a way, 蟲師 is even better suited for daily chapter reading. The problem, however, is – I was unable to obtain it.
Then I though I’d be reading 課長島耕作 – this is one of the manga used in the great book “Japanese: The Manga Way” and I was quite intrigued by it and I have a way to obtain it… However, when I browsed through the first chapter, I realized that this book is way too mature for a small clumsy cat like me(ow) ![]()
It’s not that the language used there is too hard for me – sure, it doesn’t have furigana, but I can still read it… However, I didn’t (though should have) expect a bed scene… Sorry, I’m just a small clumsy cat.
I looked up 加治隆介の議 – another manga used in “Japanese: The Manga Way” – and found the same problem…
I looked up 鋼の錬金術師 – it is a famous manga and it looks like a great one too, and I can obtain it as well… But here I find it hard to relate to the main character… He sounds very much like a younger version of Iron Man (considering the similarity of names, it might even be possible that his creators were inspired by Iron Man) – extremely gifted and knowlegeable, but also quite arrogant… Now, it’s possible that under that manner he is a much better person, but so far I just don’t seem to relate to him very much…
So, in the end, I decided to go with ケロロ軍曹 – I have already started reading it, but haven’t done much reading lately due to getting distracted by other things. It’s also quite light-hearted and fun and there’s not much risk of spoilers, so it might be quite well-suited for one chapter purr day reading. And it’s also related to @pembon. So, it has been decided: starting from tomorrow, my daily manga would be ケロロ軍曹!![]()
