HUGE spoiler for Frieren -- don't click unless you have finished volume 11
I even add additional spoiler layer.
I understand Frieren’s concern about revealing the future magic to the past, but there is one problem: シュラハト。He could see thousand years into the future, he even left message for Frieren in マハト’s memories… Surely, he could see (and report to the Demon King) all the advancements human magic would make in the next 80 years… So, either there was some hidden restraining factor that would prevent him from revealing what he foresaw or maybe Frieren simply didn’t take him into account…
while it hasn’t been made clear yet, I strongly suspect that it’s only Frieren’s soul, mind and memories that traveled through time, but not her body. I might, of course, be wrong on this, but if I am right – then what you suggest would mean the child would remain in the past, which would obviously change the future, which is exactly what Frieren wants to avoid.
Has it though?
So far, I haven’t seen any indication it has ever had…
I mean, she sure managed to find a lot of useful (though Fern might sometimes doubt it) things in various ruins…
But we are talking about not trophy hunting in general, but the particular case of mimics. Here is the screenshot where Frieren explains why she is so adamant on opening such chests:
So, has there ever been a single time when Frieren would open such a “99% probably mimc” chest and it finally turned out to be that rare 1% that was not a mimic, but actually contained a rare magic book? I think, if it has – then it would have been mentioned…
So, I think Frieren just keeps trying again and again, hoping that one day all of this would finally pay off – and I sure hope it would
“It’s just a meditative slow-paced manga”, they said… “No cliff-hangers, no urge for binge-read”, they said…
Still, I am going to keep my “one chapter purr day” pace, no meowtter what

猫が西向きゃ。第1巻。第1話:The tail does not always face the east. – Had an opportunity to read this. Quite a weird manga. It’s from the same author who wrote 蟲師 (which I haven’t yet read, only watched). Style is very similar and the main character looks and behaves similarly, but has two companions (one of whom is a cat), doesn’t smoke and, instead of mysterious supernatural entities called 蟲、is studying and fixing the mysterious supernatural phenomenon called “Flow”, which can be affected by human thoughts. Oh, and it all happens in modern day Japan. So, for those who were wondering, what 蟲師 would look like in our day and age – here’s the answer. Quite intriguing, but I think I should read 蟲師 first. Which I’m going to do after I finish Frieren.
オジサマと猫。第1話:おじさまと猫 – I’ve known about this series for quite a while now and wanted to read it – and now I finally got the oppurrtunity! Very heartwarming book!
オジサマと猫。第2話:ひとりぼっち
オジサマと猫。第3話:猫の名前 – I must say, the chapters here are really short
