Shame I don’t have any steps to reproduce - given the weird API responses I’m 99.9% sure this is a bug, but a bug report that boils down to “shit’s broke, yo” isn’t actionable, and that’s kind of all I have.

I briefly had the issue real bad, but it got better again. The random jumping up threads, too.

I’ve got one thread showing back up as unread, but the others haven’t yet reappeared… here’s hoping they’ll follow suit sometime soon

Those are consistent as far as I can tell, and a few threads are having problems every now and again - the POLL thread for instance wasn’t being marked as unread yesterday evening (last read post was somewhere 5000+, latest post was 460-ish) but that thread is okay now, mysteriously.

Edit: it could also be useful to know that these threads are (I think) all in the campfire category, but that hasn’t always been true for all threads with problems. The short grammar questions thread didn’t get marked as unread until sometime last week, for instance, and then mysteriously fixed itself as well (I think, anyway… But maybe that was another thread I’mt hiking of)

Update from Discourse:

We found out that this arises whenever a a bunch of replies are deleted from a topic or some of the topic’s posts are moved to another topic. We’ve run a correction script which should make things better.

You might still see this issue every now and then. We’re planning to come up with a more permanent solution which will hopefully be a permanent fix.

So unfortunately you may still have this issue, but they’re aware of it and are looking to work on a permanent fix.
