Tofugu and furigana

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this kind of question.

I’m super grateful to the team behind Tofugu for making such a great repository of knowledge and sharing it for free.

However, as I’ve only recently started my adventure with japanese, there is one thing that makes it really hard to use most of the resources on Tofugu - the lack of furigana even when the “prerequisites” part of the article claims that kanji will be with furigana. It’s really disruptive when I can’t read the sentence and have to check the kanji using an external website.

Am I doing something wrong and it actually should show up?

And yes, I know I can probably a browser addon to remedy that.

This prerequisites article? That doesn’t mention furigana at all. This one does mention it, though. It says they don’t believe in it.

To be fair, I think WaniKani context senences would benefit from having furigana. It’s quite common to see some kanji there that one hasn’t yet learned (or even kanji that are not yet on WK)…

To be fair, it does say “some kanji”. What article are you looking at?

For example this article prerequisites say “This article assumes you already know hiragana and katakana.” but there is a mix of Kanji with furigana and without. (And the choice is strange 違ちがう has furigana but not 風邪?)

Seems like a mistake.

I’m sure it would be possible to reach out to Tofugu, but their most recent article was published almost a year ago, so there might not be a big priority on cleaning up mistakes in existing articles.

I recommend looking at browser extension 10Ten Japanese Reader. You can translate japanese words by hovering over them, and it can show you on what WK level will you learn that word as well.
