[TODO] WaniKani companion iOS app

Hi all!

I’m just starting development on a native iOS companion app. It uses the official WaniKani API with your personal API token stored securely on‑device (Keychain).

I’m excited to make something that fits naturally into your WaniKani routine. Your early feedback will directly shape what ships first. If you have any concerns about privacy, UX, or feature scope, please ask—happy to answer and adjust. Before I dive too deep, I’m trying to understand what’s most important to you for the initial release: Lessons or Reviews. Early feedback will help me focus and ship something useful sooner.

What I would like to hear back from you:

• Are you interested in using the app?

• For the first release, what’s more important to you: Lessons or Reviews? Maybe something else?

• Any must-have details for your preferred flow? (e.g., keyboard behavior, answer feedback, mnemonics visibility)

• Would you be interested in beta testing?

I’m novice here, a bit struggled with API TOKEN, Could you explain “How it works“, how to import/export from here to your APP,

thank you for your interest.

API token is a sort of key that will identify you to WaniKani API, thus application will retrieve your progress on WaniKani.

If you search the forums, you should find at least 3 ios apps. My favorite is Kakehashi by the great wizard Portego.

Feel free to make your own, but it will be hard to beat what we have already.

It strange how could I miss it, because I did a search on the forum and found only outdated threads. Thanks, I’ll check out the Kakehashi.
