It seems like there’s nee vocab.

岸、岸辺、岩手県、塩分、食塩

At least those are the ones I noticed.

The trend of all new vocab additions coming with painfully slow readings, and no recordings of natural delivery at all anymore, has become quite disappointing. Rather than my old system of listening to both recordings of the word first, reading the definition while the recording plays another time, and then saying it myself aloud, I now regularly find myself not playing the recordings at all, only checking once or twice per level to see if they’re all still so bad. Not sure what happened to engender this change but I would love to see it reversed.

For example, comparing the new addition of 対岸 to the already-existing 海岸 from the previous level, the recordings hardly even sound like the same language - the delivery of 対岸 is so slow as to begin sounding like たいんがん. I’m not sure who this helps, but for me it has completely removed the utility of the recordings sections for any vocab word added after this decision was made, as they no longer represent natural pronunciations of the taught words that I can use to assist in training my ear.

Commenting to say I’ve also noticed this since the introduction of the new female voice and completely agree with you - at first I was getting around it by using only the male voice but now all new recordings sound super slow and unnatural.

Wow I didn’t notice before, but now that I saw your comment and went to listen, they are much slower now.

I’m definitely hearing the nasal んが sound for Miyuki on 対岸 as well. I don’t know if that’s just from being slow or if that’s how she says it. I know sometimes pronunciation is a bit different than the spelling like 千円.

One thing odd is Kenichi doesn’t seem to say the ん in 対岸, but he did say it in 海岸. Or it’s just barely there. I’d expect it might be more present considering it’s slow like you said.

I just did a comparison too of the new vocab and it feels like they’re both talking on slow-mo. I wonder what triggered the decision to change the speed. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: It’s even slower than the audio on japandict. Not a fan.
