The quick or short Language Questions Thread (not grammar)

Ok, so here is the current edit of the sentence.

彼(かれ)は「ずっと愛(あい)してる」と言(い)っていた。嘘(うそ)だよ。

The question is, which is more appropriate- ずっと or いつも? How do they affect the nuance by being within a quotation? Here’s the discussion so far.

I’ve been working with 〜て forms a bit lately and I’m starting to have a feeling that ずっと愛してる actually describes a state and might be more akin to “X has loved Y for so long”, with some anchoring in the past so perhaps to better emphasize the “will” part, one should probably use いつも愛する or いつまで愛する.

I’ll cross post in the language thread then. When I did extra research on it, I found people used ずっと as a way to imply more like “forever and always” to a degree and that いつも can mean closer to “every time” and “usually.” With the sentence being a quotation, I’m not sure how that plays into the nuance.
