We added a “Next 24 Hours” option to the Reviews Forecast widget that allows you to see the next 24 hours of reviews scheduled without requiring an extra click.

You can either replace the “Next 5 Days” widget with this one or add it as an additional widget so you have access to both views. If you haven’t tried customizing your dashboard yet, you can do that here.
You’re the only person who’s made a report about it, but that doesn’t mean other people aren’t experiencing it.

I was curious if the dashboard heatmap has the ability to manually add entries? A combination of illness and not accounting for the daylight savings time change means I didn’t get my reviews for today/yesterday in until a few minutes after midnight. It’s a feature of the user script heatmap and was hoping for something similar. Seeing a gap of a single day after a nearly 2000-day streak due to being a few minutes late is honestly very demoralizing.
A little UI thing that’s been bugging me. It’s annoying that the arrows jump around on the heatmap!
The left side arrow jumps all around, so there’s no way to click back through items quickly. The right side arrow is fine, except at the end where it disappears and positions you over the year number instead. It would be nice if the arrow dimmed instead of disappearing, so you don’t make a click you don’t intend to.
Not exactly a high priority item, but if it’s possible to adjust this so that the elements don’t jump around, then I think it would feel really nice to use 
Two people (from what I could find) have already mentioned this, but the week being fixed to start on Sunday on Heat map widget trips me every time and for non-US person it’s a bit hard to not be confused by that. Not sure how much rework would go into that, but being able to pick start of the week between Monday (Europe, China, etc.), Sunday (Japan, UK/US, India, etc.), Saturday (some Arab countries) and Friday (only if you want to accommodate Maldives, according to Wiki) would be a nice QoL.
I am super late, but I still wanted to share my thoughts.
First of all, お疲れ様! The new update is amazing! I don’t use any scripts, so some of the widgets were different and interesting to me. I appreciate how I can have the old pink and blue themes if I want for lessons and reviews.
I don’t have any complaints, just a couple notes (I didn’t read all the replies on this, but I did see a few people mention these already):
- Would it be possible to bring back the 7-day forecast? It’s useful to see that far ahead.
- The Learning Zone. The angry lady when you get things correct. I understand “The Learning Zone”, but when you’re past the learning zone, maybe she could say “You’re past The Learning Zone”, instead of “You’re outside”, like when you’re below it? It may just be me, but if she said “You’re past”, it would give a sense of accomplishment.
Lastly, screenshots were asked for; I shall provide. These were taken on my phone.
That would be cool! I don’t expect much as we still don’t have a forecast on 24H clock style and only get the AM/PM one.

Big fan of the new dashboard - I optimised the layout for my view on mobile and maintaining motivation to keep up with daily reviews. (can you tell if it’s been working so far?)
I didn’t think I cared much for maintaining streaks, etc. but the combination of a shiny new dashboard and the heatmap and study streak widgets has definitely helped me jump back into WK (again). The ‘buffer’ provided to the study streak with the offerings is a nice touch too, really takes the sting out of a single day lapse here and there.
I think after using the new dashboard for a while is that it has some issues but overall its great and lets you configure it to your own tastes. I’d love to see more widgets and I can’t imagine going back to the old one.

I have trouble seeing the smaller font. Either I need to magnify the page or wear reading glasses. I tried the ‘style tweak’ but it messes up the dark mode I finally found.

I don’t like how I need to click today to see how many reviews are coming up in the upcoming hours. I know there is 24 hour widget, but I don’t like it compared to the old version.

I don’t like how I need to click Kanji under Level Progress to see all the Kanji characters. Also cannot hover the cursor to see when it will be reviewed again.
I have a lifetime subscription. So I will continue to use it regardless.
finally returning a month later to find that still none of the major issues have been addressed. can’t express enough how disappointing this. please fix the review forecast, level progress, and item views to restore previously existing functionality. i really didn’t expect the general degradation of the modern internet to come to a service i’ve advocated for so relentlessly in the past, but i can’t see any other way to describe this.
Unless it has the words “New Dashboard” and “widget”, I doubt that WK will do anything.
Large kanji tiles (previous format or even the old format for vocab pages) and vertical lists would be in their “too hard” basket.

The ignorance and lack of any kind of reaction to user feedback is very disappointing, but that has always been the case with WK. Users keep requesting features and never get them. It feels like we are treated as little children, like we don’t know what we want. As if they were saying “You will get the features WE think are best for you” kind of approach. They say that they listen, but when WK does 10 steps backwards, users need to fight hard to get even 1 steb forward. Basically, we are riding on a boat at the mercy of captain. We can only hope to get the learning we are here for before the captain crashes the ship completely.
I think this may be a reflection of japanese approach to do things. I don’t know if Koichi is japanese (sounds like it), or if the whole staff is, but the way they do updates reminds me of 建前 - be very polite on the outside, but the complete oposite on the inside. I have never been to Japan and never met any japanese, but from what I understand from videos about Japanese culture, they can be very… I don’t know how to describe it more accurately… “dense”? “Old school”? Like when you are trying to explain modern practices to older people and they nod and aggree on the outside, but than you turn around and they do things their way anyway. It is hard to reach any kind of progress with such people because they don’t respect you enough to consider doing things you want.
My point is that WK doesn’t trust users to know what they want.
BTW if anyone wants to see the opposite approach, check how Bunpro is doing. They listen to users and implement many features users requested. The website is leaping forward like crazy. If they ever decide to implement learning kanji in similar way to WK, they would make WK completely irrelevant at this point of development.
For as much as I love WK and for as kind as all my interactions with the staff have been.. yeah you kind of nailed it here..
It still is a shame to me how trigger-happy and uncompromising they have been when it comes to removing options or radically altering structure since (as someone who practically grew up in schools and around teachers- both of my parents and nearly every adult figure in my life growing up are/was one) it’s been very, very well established to me that learning is not a “one size fits all” thing in literally any capacity.
Every great teacher that I had anecdotally started with a “we think X is the best way to do Y” approach with intent that they can work on an individual level to further tailor it to specific needs and styles. And if not tailor necessarily, at least were consistent with style and expectation.
All of the teachers that I have found miserable were the ones unflinchingly set in approach and/or made sweeping executive changes without input on the class’ perspective. One day I walked into my 10th grade Spanish class and the teacher had elected to remove all the desks permanently, figuring an open environment was ideal and cheap clipboards had equivalent utility. I did not enjoy that class- and this situation here has felt quite similar.
Specific cultural divide or not- I think the stranger part to me is the insistence of it all considering the devs aren’t the ones actively engaging and learning with the site content- that’s what we are doing and to largely sweep away our criticism confuses me.
Another teacher anecdote, but my parents’ school district recently replaced all the projectors with flat screen TVs- which are about half the size, much harder to move out of the way, more prone to error, and students have to look at them at a 45 degree upward angle. The IT department at the school has said “no no, we think this is an improvement because there’s more vivid colors and the tech is newer” but the actual teachers hate it since it impedes on the intended use- learning- more than it benefits.
Again, feels very similar.
Bunpro definitely has its flaws (largely deriving from Grammar itself just being much harder to teach) and I think it’s lack of structure compared to WK can be a double edged sword- but man the difference is night and day in terms of options and general feature-richness. It blows me away every time I use it even with its frustrations just because it feels like it is made for a user to… “use” rather than just “do”.
WK to me at this point almost just feels like a Bunpro prereq as to have a basis for approaching their example sentences (which would practice Kanji comprehension, vocab recognition, grammar, and cultural nuance- aka reading as a whole). The fact it’s also half the price (both monthly or lifetime) is insane to me.
Unique services with unique intent, I know, but if one site is to learn from the other… it’s definitely WK who needs to take notes on what BP is up to.
I’ve made my peace fine enough with a lot of these changes given some time (not really in the sense it’s improved or I’ve adapted but rather just have more patience to find/use external alternatives- which is still very lame I need to emphasize), but I am glad people are still bringing it up with hopes something will happen towards this all. Who knows, but I sure hope.
