Personal opinion
I love this club and want to participate now and then, just not every six weeks. But everytime you choose something cool I get fomo or get tempted to join. Overwhelmed bookclubbers unite!
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- free
- you can finally catch up on all your offshoot clubs
Cons
- you might get ostracized for voting for this
- it could win every time

Yep, I think that’s what that means. It started as a joke, and then I really wanted it, but I don’t know if it would actually work! Maybe if letting it win and how it’s implemented is at the club master’s discretion
Finally a nomination I can back 100% ![]()
What a brilliant idea!
I keep hoping that eventually we’ll run out of main manga titles at least, but this time has yet to come
Also other unknown manga are also extremely tempting.
I don’t really understand the proposal to be honest (assuming that it is serious, which I didn’t think it was but the replies seem to consider this seriously). I’ve skipped the past couple of IMC because I don’t have time, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to prevent others from reading something in the meantime.
well, it started as a joke, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. But sometimes I wonder if clubs were less often if more people would participate and what if the vast majority of members actually wanted to join the club less often, would you ever know?
Anyway, in the big picture, I agree, it doesn’t really matter. I have no objection to clubs running while I sit out. Someday I will catch up on Dungeon Meshi dangit. This is just me participating in nominations
since I also don’t want to lead another club right now ![]()
Just think of it just like Harta, it’s a bunch of new stuff in each edition, you try it and maybe something will pick your interest and you will continue the series
You don’t have to try all the things though. And you can also just read it later.
No worries, I played with the idea as a what if, but, honestly it really was just a joke and to get some fun commiseration -
Could we maybe implement this for all media worldwide? If people would stop releasing new games, books and anime for a mere 10 years or so I could finally get through my backlogs!
Getting to the root cause, I like that ![]()
大丈夫、冗談ですや~ん @mitrac is just in a pinch from being haunted by neglected book clubs durtle
That’s the one! That’s the durtle I didn’t know I needed (to make friends with
)
Has anyone ever actually experienced this???
I’m almost caught up on my current offshoot clubs, but I still haven’t started on the new clubs. And just in time for Saturday, when all the clubs move on another chapter.
I’m caught up and now starting two new old book clubs that are still on progress, 葬送のフリーレン and ふたつのスピカ!

I am up to date on mine and keep trying to be careful not to join too many offshoot bookclubs…
ハクメイとミコチ is definitely calling me to join an offshoot, although convenient timing we are just caught up to the final published volume of とんがり帽子のアトリエ. Perhaps I can continue a one in one out policy for IMBC bookclubs!
While the original post from @mitrac was a joke, it might not be a bad shout to have some occasional longer breaks between IMBC reads. There are picks I would have been interested to read but didn’t to avoid having too much on my schedule.
Oh good, it’s just me who’s too far backlogged ![]()
I could nominate 瀧鷹之介の散歩時間, but it’d probably be pre-ABBC material if it had furigana; IMC would likely devour the entire three volumes in a week. (Volume one is 180 pages with around 400 words. Not 400 unique words, 400 words total.)
“No book clubs to catch up to” is our natural state before we discover book clubs, so yes, I…
What?
Oh, you mean after starting with book clubs? No, of course not.
