Sounds like a question to ask in the IBC thread. If there’s any audience for it, it’s probably there.
Yeah, I was thinking that if people don’t want to read it, it will just lose in the polls and that’s fine too.
No, not planning on it. I would be fine with running an independent club if there’s interest, but this club already has an active reader base so that’s why I submitted it here first.
I would also wonder about whether there are enough readers
I suppose it wouldn’t hurt asking in the IBC/ABC threads if there’s interest though.
Alright, thanks for the input and for voting everyone, I’ve now closed both polls ![]()
We won’t be having a new poll just yet but instead it’ll be after we are done reading 幸せのマチ.
We are accepting ニコラのおゆるり魔界紀行 (L22) as a nomination. I also think it’s fine, since we only have 13 nominations at the moment. I’ll update the lists now.
A wild book poll has appeared
Vote for the next book - now!
The poll will close automatically 2026-03-07T18:00:00Z (probably).
The IMC is not currently reading anything, so the next book can start soon, it will depends on the readers. In case someone needs time to order a physical copy, the book club can wait a bit to start.
Can I vote?
If you are interested in joining the next book club we run, you can - and should - vote!
Difficulty Scores
Difficulty scores come from Natively (if available). Natively is a large community of language learners where users rate the difficult of books they’ve read against others they’ve read and uses an ELO system to determine the relative difficulty. Because of the rating system the ratings without ?? should be reasonably accurate, but the levels with ?? are just an initial guess that must be taken with a pinch of salt.
How does the vote work?
The poll will close automatically.
You can vote for up to 5 options.
You can change your vote at any time by clicking ‘Show vote’ at the bottom.
The book with the most votes will be our next pick.
If there is a tie for the winner, we will pick the book that has the oldest nomination date.
Have a look at the nominations:
- The nomination post for each manga is linked in the poll (the number link [1.]) and is also in the first post of this thread
- The Natively link is also in the poll, the “LXX” link
- There is also a Natively list of the current nominations
Time to vote for the 13th pick of the IMC
It’s ten billion percent time for Doctor Stone to shine. ![]()
The link to the nomination of あかね噺 is broken in the poll.
Oh no
too late to fix it, so thanks for posting the correct link!
The date on this poster clearly indicates that the “time” in question was a decade ago. ![]()
Fermented tofu then.
They tried to silence us, but Nicola cannot be silenced!! Vote for Nicola!!
Also, you could find out who this guy is!
And meet adorable critters like this!
Truly don’t mean to influence the voting, but I figured it might be worth mentioning that there’s a Harta Comix sale on now, so the first volume of Nicola, Isabella Bird, and Bride of Cuprum are all 30 yen each as ebooks for the next couple of weeks or so.
Okay, well now I own all of these. ![]()
I’m reading クプルムの花嫁 volume 5 now after a long break. The series is great and I recommend it to anyone who likes learning about interesting things.
One day left to vote ![]()
And we have a winner,
Congrats to ニコラのおゆるり魔界紀行!
@soggyboy as it was your nomination, would you like to lead the club?
you are also free to decide (probably in agreement with those joining the club) the start date ![]()
We also say goodbye to ちびまる子ちゃん, since it has scored less than 15% in the last 3 polls
![]()
Pretty decisive victory too after that really long head-to-head race!
Gladly!
I’ll get a home post up and running in the next couple of days and post some polls!
*dramatic sigh*
I guess I’ll have to read all 18 volumes of that on my own. ![]()
