I did mine myself. And so did almost everybody. I think only one or two were provided by Borx.
I guess people are just that good.
(In my case, I just scaled chiya and applied my usual turtle shell; that hardly takes any skill)

like gimp or photoshop

Well, if you go check mspaintadventures, you’d be surprised by what can be done in that software. 
(note: most of the recent stuff aren’t, in fact, made with paint, but still)

@Naphthalene Not that I’d change my picture anyway, but I am completely incapable of merging Chiya with Nano. I tried for a few minutes (actually in MS Paint) before giving up since I couldn’t figure out how to make the white background transparent.
