I’m on chapter 9, page 7.
Takagi asks Nishikata if “are you sad because nothing good happened today? It’s just fortune telling” and I’m not sure what Nishi’s answer means: “自分だってタロットとかやってたクセに。”.
Here 自分だって sounds weird, but the rest I suppose means タロットとか “such things as tarots”, and やってたクセに “despite having done”? Or maybe more accurately “in spite of having done”?

I’m still not sure how to put all together, any suggestion? Who’s 自分 referring to?
I’d instinctively translate it as “Despite having done tarot as well” but some pieces don’t match

EDIT: now I understand it! i forgot that Takagi used to do tarots in a previous chapter, and Nishikata is being ironic: “… said by the one that used to do tarots”.

Asking questions and answering by myself just like in the good old days :ok_man:

I’m completely confused by page 9

高木さん: ところでさ、占いのとこなんて聞いてあったの?
“By the way, ?”
I suppose とこ is ところ meaning “thing”, “matter” (kind of like こと), so 占いのとこ means "the fortune telling thing/ matter (or place? But I don’t think so).
I’m well used to なんて as a derogatory expression after a word, but here the sentence breaks so I don’t know if it’s 占いのとこなんて or なんて書いてあった?
And with so many incognitas I can’t figure out what 書いてある means here.

Nishikata’s answer doesn’t help at all, as usual
え?あぁ占いの一言コメントみたいなやつ?
What is 一言コメント? I’m quite confused, I suppose it’s something about japanese culture or fortune telling and horoscope stuff in general, which I’m unaware of.

EDIT: I’m idiot. Never mind

And then he freaks out all of a sudden

naw… .sometimes just a 10 min break is enough to realize…

I have the net feeling that volume 5 was tougher than the previous ones, Nishikata and Takagi used more complex and abstract speaking style. Or at least this is my impression… where are you guys atm?

Too bad, this time it was indeed the concrete meaning place/spot/part :stuck_out_tongue:

We are at Volume 11.

I have a hard time judging whether things are any harder now… It feels easier to me, but I’ve been reading for longer, so that’s probably why
