🐌🏖 Team Snails on Vacation 🐌🏖

Glad to see you back! Thank goodness your kitty is well again, really stressful time when pets get sick. :disappointed_relieved:
Great that you’ve been able to hop back on the snail wagon again

Level 18! My guru items are dangerously high again, but still manageable. Forward.

Ohh! May I join you?
I’ve used the vacation mode many times since joining WK… and often I found I needed to reset to a previous level afterwards. So here I am at level 23 only 1110 days after joining wanikani! When I am not using vacation mode, I am leveling up at a relatively good speed though.

Also, to be sure, “speed” in the wiki is total time it took to get to the current level or average speed?

Welcome!

Speed is time it took to get from previous to current level, and it is the tie-breaker for people who are on the same level (though since this is Team Snails, I would like to suggest a change: the slowest person should sit higher on the leaderboard)

Welcome new snails!

It’s awesome to see so many new names, and to learn a new word! Escargatoire has a certain ring to it, lol.

Anyways, just checking in to wish everyone a great weekend! I leveled up to 17 a couple of weeks ago, and have been making molasses-speed progress since then. Still working through the level 16 vocab.

I’m curious if anyone else is taking part, or is considering taking part in the WK joint mock JLPT “exam” in July? I realize it’s a bit of a push, considering we’re the slowest of the slow, but at least for me the idea piqued my interest enough to sign up. Can already feel the first rushes of that Magical Motivation™ running through my veins xd (How long will the hyped up feeling last is a different story altogether, though).

If you’re also one of the participants, I wonder if you’d care to share to what extent you’ve considered studying (eg. do you have daily or weekly goals for example?), what level, and how?

I’d find it personally interesting to read how other Escargots are doing with such a study project.

Hello my fellow Snails! Just wanted to say: Iam finally level 8 and 7 was the toughest by far. So proud i came through  Just continue to do your reviews! The speed is not important

I hadn’t heard of the this before, but I really like the idea, having some sort of accountability always helps me when studying - Magical Motivation™ for sure, hahaha. I’m leaning towards maybe signing up for N4, but will need to up my grammar A LOT to prepare. Most likely would be spending more time reviewing/studying Genki, continuing WK and Bunpro, and doing recreational reading (NHK Easy, children’s books) and listening to podcasts/shows.

And @Zeniba - congratulations on the level up!

This is me, big time!! While I did see that thread, for me, it’s still on the scary side  Last year I was all fired up to jump into the Absolute Beginners Book Club, signed up, bought the book and wham, too much other stuff happened and it was all I could do to keep going with WK. Anyhow, it’s still something that I might consider a bit further down the track!

Woo Hoo - great job!! And yes, Positive Possum is right, we can all do the thing :confetti_ball:

lol I just checked WK stats for the first time and my average level up is Average: 351 days, 1 hour , 33 minutes. Been using the site for about 10 years, one level a year. The real MVP

Reminder to self to take things slow and join this thread when I end up finding a new job (hopefully soon).

Just ticked over to lvl 12, so I’m back to update the chart.
Thanks for the tip about logging out and back in to the forums to get the right level to show up, that worked perfectly!

Congratz to you! Yep, got to show off that new level

@emipri I¨m Replying late (), but just passing by to comment that Genki is indeed great for all grammar needs. I got a strong foundation from them.

@Sprongdiddlydooo Hahah! That must’ve been a bummer! I completely see where you’re coming from. I have the exact same issue with life getting in the way of things. That’s also probably why all my big project drag on like a… snail stuck in tar.

@kchaque and of course, many congrats on the level up!

For me, after 2 weeks of daily reviews, I’ve reduced my review queue by a hundred items. Yay!
500 left to go.
