Study Log of Madness

I ACTUALLY FEEL ASHAMED BECAUSE I FELL FOR IT LAST YEAR TOO LMAO I just remembered! I’ve been hanging out too much in reddit haha!

And congratulations! Woo! Here’s to our own fitness journeys!

Aww thank you, Trunkie! I appreciate it! It didn’t even cross my mind to do a reset. But I will see how the reviews go. I’ll keep your advice in mind. Thanks a lot! Hoping for the best to yours, too!

Yes, you too! Oh~ that’s news to me! You must be in a really good shape from all those runs. That’s so amazing. I just started this year and I totally get that feeling haha I feel frustrated when I am unable to run too haha I started with outdoor running, so there was never a dull moment because I usually run during sunset and I could say it’s quite the view I have here haha But the rainy seasons discourage me from doing it now, so I’m only doing indoor runs in the treadmill. That’s when anime comes in handy haha!

Aw, but you have plans to go? It’s really amazing over there! I hope you get a chance to visit  Haha yes it’s already intimidating enough. Not to mention I got all these userscripts on my browser, and I don’t really know if they’re still working. I need to find my groove back and see if I can do the reviews without doing reset. Oh well, no better time than to start now haha. Thanks a lot for your words of encouragement. I shall persevere!

about running

Yes! * flexing my legs muscles * :flexed_biceps:

Ooh that’s too bad! I run in Denmark, which is to say not great weather most of the year and I always run outside! It does require buying a bit better clothing but cold is never an issue (you get warm when you run) and I don’t mind rain either. I have my phone packed in a small waterproof bag that I had bought for hiking trips:

After careful consideration, I think I would do a reset. I weighed the pros and cons of it and it seemed beneficial to do it rather than powering through the 2k pile of reviews. I think I also have enough time to catch up by the time December rolls around and in time for the lifetime sale. I don’t think I’ve forgotten the radicals and the low levels (1-6) kanjis, but I’m having trouble with remembering the onyomi and kunyomi readings and when to use them. That’s the hurdle I had back in the early days, and what I’ve had to overcome during my first round of Wanikani last year. While doing that, I won’t discredit the levels I’ve reached until now. So I will be updating the level ups after Level 15! I’ll be focusing solely on Wanikani and consuming Japanese media during the first levels just to fit it around my current working schedule and hopefully cross-training(?) to other materials like Bunpro, Satori Reader, and Genki if I feel like I have more time to do them. I’ll be starting in the evening, like I always do, and hope that I get back to the same level by December.

Well, I still have thicc legs from cellulites but I can definitely flex my left leg muscle haha Idk why the right leg doesn’t flex as much as the other but haha

I love running outside tbh too! The only problem here is when it rains, the running area I go to gets muddy + ankle deep rain puddles and there are cars driving by so it’s quite dangerous. Plus the ground gets a little slippery. I ran once in the rain and I definitely don’t dislike it because it cools me down, except for the ground conditions haha I have a small belt bag where I place my keys and phone and banana if I’m doing more than an hour of run. But the water bottle I just carry it in my hand and tuck it in my arm when running haha

Oh wow, OK that sounds like really tough conditions! Happy that you have found an alternative then!

Thank you! I do have alternatives at the moment, which is treadmill. It’s not as good as an outside run but it checks my daily move goal hihi rainy season should be done by the time the Ber months roll around, so it’s all good! I just think to myself, resting is also part of the training so I don’t feel too bad hehe

In my training gym, there is a stationary bike that is easier to do reviews on, but I also do reviews while walking at the gym… Running is too bumpy to type reviews so that’s when I do listening practice.
OMG, 17kg is a huge huge change for such a short time! But it seems like–the most important part–you are feeling more energy. Congratulations!!
It’s so great to read what a lovely trip you had to Japan in the spring. Even the Thailand trip sounds interesting…
… Thank you for updating

I’ve briefly considered going to a gym just to use other types of equipment, but I’m saving up for the lifetime sale now and a future trip in Aug 2026 so I’ll stick with my low cost runs haha (inb4 I get influenced to buy a new pair of running shoes). How do you review while walking? Do you use an app or you just open up Wanikani in your phone browser?

Thank you so much! I’m still not very inclined to exercise, but I remind myself the benefits of it and before I knew it, I’m already on the treadmill haha I trick myself sometimes just to get on with it and it works wonderfully every time.

So I managed to level up to 2! Yes! But it’s too late in the night to study and do reviews after so I’ll start on it tomorrow~ Also this week is a busy one so I’m gonna pace myself properly.

It’s been a hectic week and will be getting more hectic by the day. I had to time my reviews properly and ensure I have enough energy and focus to drill down the lessons in my brain. So far, so good. I think the SRS from months ago still works because I’m breezing through the lessons and reviews.

I decided to take it easy this time around. Not being pressured to level up or learn all the kanjis and radicals first like I did before. I’m still sticking to the default 25 lessons a day so we’ll see how it goes this week.

25 lessons a day is still a lot! Unless you mean reviews?

A hard, but very wise decision! What I’ve learned the hard way – is that the most important thing is to keep (or restart) moving. It’s better to do a reset and start moving at once than contemplate the ever-growing pile of reviews, trying to muster the energy to do them

indeed trunky_rolling

Anyway, best of luck with your studies! wricat

P. S. Sorry, it seems you’ve edited your post quicker than I wrote this reply trunky_rolling

Hmm in level 1, there were only around 25ish lessons? Then I leveled up and today it’s set to 25 lessons by default. But when I checked the advanced button, I still have some lesson items. To be more accurate it’s probably 25 lessons whenever I have the time this week haha

When I was using WK I did 10 lessons per day (3 kanji + 7 vocab) and I was leveling up every 15 days with about 150-200 reviews per day once the burns came back to haunt me

For reference

Yes, I was having trouble remembering all the codes and stuff to make the format (I lost my old draft somehow) so I was doing trial and error haha! Although I will add that one in the next update. That’s so damn cute, just like you!

Thanks a lot~

Yes that is correct! I would have but I was daunted by the current level I’m in that it made me second guess the lower level ones. Haha It will be like starting from scratch but I feel like it’s just a refresher for me somehow because I still remember the low level kanjis well.

Ohh interesting. My average level up last time was 7-13 days I think. And that was when I was crunching down on radicals + kanjis first as soon as I get them. Then vocab later. It was quite efficient in leveling up, but it left me with maybe 200 ish reviews a day at levels 12+ haha Not sure I can do that as of the moment. But while I still remember these low level kanjis and vocab, I’ll be okay.

So I did all radicals when they appeared too and then spaced out the kanji

I hated having like 3 days of learning kanji and then 10+ days of boring vocab

So I think it’s also because I’ve forgotten my userscript workflow somehow so it’s like I’m doing WK in vanilla mode and getting the lessons according to what the system generates. I’ll get around to it soon though haha I’ll try that suggestion. It always frustrates me when I need to unlock kanjis, I kind of remember it now.

I also disliked vocab but I know it’s necessary haha

Since you remember a lot it may be wise to select only the vocab you’re shaky on with the lesson picker to decrease the future load. Because once you’ve done a lesson you’ll have to burn it to remove it from the pile.

Hello Yandros, welcome to my little corner~ I’ll definitely do that in the upper levels. Thanks a lot!
