Study from English to Japanese?

Hi. Is there a way—a setting in WaniKani, or an additional app/program/whatever, that will show me a word in English, and ask me to type the reading or kanji? I think in English, but afaik WaniKani only asks me to work receptively (knowing the sound/meaning of a kanji), rather than expressively (being able to generate the kanji or pronunciation myself, based on my thoughts in English). I feel like I’d be growing my ability to speak and write much better if I ever had to work from English to Japanese… Thanks!

https://www.kaniwani.com/ might be what you’re looking for. To quote that site:

KaniWani is a companion website to WaniKani, an SRS tool for kanji and vocabulary memorization. We felt that WaniKani helped a lot with being able to recognize and read Japanese, but didn’t help enough when trying to recall or reproduce words without the visual cue of seeing kanji. KaniWani attempts to bridge that gap by quizzing you from English to Japanese using your WaniKani vocabulary, forcing you to do the opposite of what you are used to.

I use Kakehashi as an extra study place from time to time. They have different ways of playing around with your batch of kanji and vocabulary. One of them being the one you seek for, English → Japanese. It comes in a handy app, so you could give that a try.
