I made a little [data visualization](https://kanji-spiral.netlify.app/) in JS about the kanji that I can read using wanikani’s API. I would love to have any feedback! I’m thinking I should add more context about kanji, but I ran out of time over the weekend.

Why does it say out of 1712 instead of the 2055 that is in WaniKani?

Thanks! Yea I wasn’t able to figure out how to hide those things without backend 😅 need to put in more effort.
I was wondering about the number too and was hoping someone would point that out! I don’t know why there are only 1712 kanji…that’s how much I got from the API call.
I’ll definitely share the source code once I figure out these issues. I’d ideally like to get all the kanji so I can cache that, and then just run the API call for stats. It’ll be much faster that way.

I use NextJS when I develop new sites and there you can hide ENV variables server side very easily, highly recommended!

Yea next.js is great!! I was just trying to make a vanilla js app since I always use frameworks (love Svelte)…but it was more trouble that it was worth IMO.

😆 Where did you find all of these? I would like to get the `subject` endpoint with all of the kanjis so that I can just put it in a JSON object into the script.

I used this config on wkstats and then I just selected all the kanji and copied them 😃 They manage to do it somehow… 🤔 I’m gonna dig in their code for a little bit

They use something called “wanikani-open-framework”.
It’s already setup on [wkstats.com](http://wkstats.com) so if you try to put this code [https://pastebin.com/aaPnvjYh](https://pastebin.com/aaPnvjYh) into the console you’ll get a response with 2055 kanji just like you want \<3
EDIT: I’m not sure how you install it on a website however…

100% that you’ll get the correct amount of kanji. I have a different name for API\_TOKEN then you did but other then that it’s basically the same.
I think adding “?types=kanji” to the url might fix your problems?
