Welcome to the Speed Run Book Club!

In this club, the rules are a bit more lax: somebody picks a Japanese manga that might have an interest with other people, they open up a new thread for each of the volumes and people attempt to read the specific volumes for as long as their free availability on manga sites, such as BookWalker, ebookjapan or cmoa, still applies!

We tend to prioritize manga in the Natively 20-27 range, though if a popular manga is beyond this range, a thread will be opened as well!

The practice helps participate in long term reading, like WaniKani Readathons in the future!

If you want to stay notified of the potential mangas that we would read in the future, subscribe this thread, as new developments will be posted here!

How to propose new manga titles

1. Find a manga available for free on any of the manga sites
   Make sure that the deadline for the manga still remains reasonable and it’s possible for others to finish it, in addition to yourself!

2. Post a new message at the bottom of this thread to propose it!
   If people will find the title interesting, somebody else might pick up on it - this will be your cue to create a new thread for the speed run manga!

3. If you get a response: create a new thread
   People will be able to leave their comments about a series and contribute to the discussion. Remember to read the manga alongside with the rest of the thread, do not create a thread and then just leave it empty!

4. If you and other people enjoyed it: consider setting up a spin-off continuation!
   They do not need to have official thread, they can just be continuations of one of the threads. Maybe people would enjoy hearing about the further developments in the lives of the characters?

Announcement: 推しの子 Book Club Extension

Hey hey everyone, just letting you know that the 推しの子 Speed Run Book Club got extended to through third and fourth volumes because of a new promo availability to promote the manga for the third season of anime ^^

The first four volumes should cover the first season of the anime!

The availability period of the third and fourth volumes have been adjusted to only last until January 27th, so if you’d like to continue, only 10 days to go!

As a completely side note, cmoa.jp has even larger availability of 推しの子 volumes for free, all the way from volume 1 to volume 8, which would run all the way until season 2, but that would be a lot for a book club and I don’t want for us to commit to read this much, so official book club stays for volumes 1 and 2, and an extension for volumes 3 and 4 has been added!

Final call for the January Speed Run Book Clubs!

There’s only two more days for the availability of 推しの子 (Jan 27th) and six more days for 君に届け (Jan 31st), as for now there seems to be reduced interest in speedrunning again, we might not jump onto the next series in (early) February, so I’ll try my best to keep the OPs and master threads up to date after the book clubs close.

If any of you were interested in proposing any series, (違国日記 has two volumes free on ebookjapan! I’ll probably read the second volume independent of a book club!), let us know and we can prioritize it, if not, good luck on your January reading and will see you in the next update!
