Special Durtle Sightings

Hmm. Those look a bit like Kamina’s glasses from Gurren Lagann. Or the Squirtle Squad leader’s from Pokemon.

so apparently a band called “168 -one sixty eight-” did a cover of nakagawa shoko’s sorairo days, but… i dunno if that’s it :sweat_smile:

Yeah, that’s what Google coughed up for me as well, but… while the number matches perfectly, it feels a bit… derivative?

I just have to say that, if the cool durtle is modeled after the the Squirtle Squad leader, it is a travesty that they didn’t name it Squirtle durtle.

It’s possible that 168 refers to sunglasses directly.
According to Google, “168” is a model number used by various, often higher-end or specific brands. E.g., “Maui Jim Typhoon” (model 168-02 or 168-10), which is described as a popular, best-selling sports frame with a “classic style” that has been in circulation since 1994; or Wilde Sunglasses (168 Model), handmade in Barcelona, Spain, and known for their timeless, durable design.
It seems to be common for high-end brands to have a model “168” among their most popular offerings. Thus, “Generic/Fashion 168” sunglasses generally refer to affordable, mass-produced, or fast-fashion eyewear designed to follow current, trendy styles.

Sounds plausible… maybe Squirtle is wearing the Maui Jim 168-02? Both are 90s icons. :thinking:

I use chrome or the mobile web app on android and noticed this flower one.

I don’t know how to use inspect for the name of the flower one for chrome on android or mobile web app, though.

Also, when I go to desktop mode in chrome on android the flower one doesn’t show up.

I was curious about the more official name for the flower one and went to my desktop to find out and get the link to help out.

It’s the cute-durtle

A fascinating anomaly… no.1050…flower… :face_with_monocle: such a shame you can’t get to the svg url. Could your try on desktop brave or firefox browsers?

For AJWaters this is 3 * 42 = 126. This is a hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy reference. It is said that 42 is the “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything”.

Ahhh damn I just passed 252 just over a week ago, I wish I knew about this then :sob:

Edit: Oh nevermind, seems like it’s a very fresh new feature. I’m looking forward to seeing new discoveries :eyes:

Can you grab the svg url? :face_with_monocle:

I’ve been digging around to see if there’s a way to find the URLs another way, and they did (rightfully so) make it pretty secure. There’s no way to request an image for a specific streak day that I can find, and attaching that seemingly random hex value at the end of the file name makes it pretty damn difficult to brute force.

However, in the styles definitions you can actually see some defined colour names which I don’t think we’ve seen yet:

Colours

–color-advanced-eye-fill: #FF90E4;
–color-beak-fill: #F7EC7D;
–color-berry-durtle-body: #FF90E4;
–color-big-bubbles: #BBE7F9;
–color-bowtie-fill: #FF90E4; ←—- ?
–color-bubble-shine: #79D1FA;
–color-cap: #FF90E4;
–color-cat-ears: #2B6352;
–color-durtle-back: #769457;
–color-durtle-body: #D9EA7F;
–color-durtle-head: #39846E;
–color-eye-fill: #FF90E4;
–color-flower-fill: #FF90E4;
–color-goopy-shine: #39846E; ←—- ?
–color-hat-detail: #F7EC7D;
–color-hat-fill: #F1AD78;
–color-laser-eye: #ECFBFF; ←—- ?
–color-metal: #A7C1CD; ←—- ?
–color-pirate-hat: #FF90E4;
–color-small-bubbles: #79D1FA;
–color-star: #F7EC7D; ←—- ?
–color-turtle-shell: #D9EA7F;
–color-zee: #79D1FA ←—- ?

It could give us some indication for the types of durtles we’ll see, but doesn’t really give us the names of the durtles or what streak number. And any special durtles that show up with a normal colour scheme won’t have anything extra defined in here.

It’s probably more fun to discover this organically, but at the same time it’s a fun challenge to see if there’s a way to figure this out from what’s available :smile:

I have no idea what that means. :sweat_smile:

My day 126 has come … I got my bubble symbol … but my issue is I have a MacBook, so right clicking on it does not bring up the inspect option :sweat_smile:

Nevermind, I googled how to work around that.
