Pretty solid week across the board. I missed doing anything (including this post) yesterday, for a pretty major reason: my other dog (Sebby, pictured above) unfortunately had to be put to sleep. Her mobility had been declining for a while, but her back legs started giving out and we had to admit it was time. It’s definitely tough, losing both of them so quickly, but at least they aren’t in pain anymore and hopefully are having a blast in dog heaven.

I am officially caught up!!! And just in time too, since BBC starts today. Next week’s post I’ll report back on how that goes! It’ll be a lot to balance both book clubs at the same time, but I think it’ll be manageable and help with my grammar and vocab.

Morning routine has been going fairly well, besides some disruption from doing my lunch meal prep on Monday morning (I do not recommend…). For some reason though, on BP my reviews have jumped to like 150 a day even though I’m still at 5 lessons. Maybe I was super active some SRS period amount of time before now and I’m hitting a wave of late stage reviews? Regardless, I’ve had to limit myself to 50 reviews per day so I don’t get overwhelmed. One thing I’ve noticed that’s interesting is there’s a lot of overlap between the early teens WK vocab and the N5 deck on BP. It makes me feel a little less bad about my backlog of vocab lessons, lol.
Apparently, I’m also only ~400 items from finishing the N5 vocab deck? Time flies I guess, but it’s rewarding to see that milestone get closer and closer. I promised myself that I would finish N5 vocab before starting N4 grammar, and I intend to keep to that, but I think N4 grammar will make some of the reading club content much easier.

Speaking of book clubs- there’s two of them now! I’ve officially joined BBC for 空っぽの少女と虹のかけら (the empty girl and the rainbow fragment), though I’m already a little behind on the reading. There’s definitely been some harder sections (my first exposure to the passive voice- yikes!) but a lot of the pages in this first week are minimal text so I think I can wrap it up tomorrow morning.
よつばと has been going smoothly, nothing to report on that front! Great shenanigans as always.

Apothecary Diaries: Ep 1-24
It’s time for the fall listening challenge! And boy, has this been good motivation. I’ve started queuing 1-2 episodes of Japanese with Shun whenever I drive somewhere (usually work), and that has helped so much with consistency. I also have been really enjoying Apothecary Diaries, so that’s some passive listening as well (though with english subtitles).
