Setting up your iPad for Japanese

I know there are amazing chrome plugins and apps like voracious for text, but how do you outfit your iPad for learning Japanese? For me it’s been especially helpful for reading, but not as much for watching and understanding videos. Thanks for your input!

Have you set the language of the iPad to Japanese?

I mostly only use mine for Japanese media consumption at the moment. I have a VPN, the Kindle app, the imiwa? dictionary app, the Netflix app, and Safari bookmarks to Animelon.com, BilingualManga.com and YouTube.

Not brave enough yet to change the system language to Japanese, I don’t trust myself to find my way back through the settings  Maybe in a few months time.

You don’t have to worry about it too much. Cool thing is the English search terms still work in the settings search bar.

Oh that’s interesting, I didn’t know that!

Here’s how to change language even if you can’t read it:

  1. Pick the one with a settings wheel
  2. Pick the second-to-last one in the fourth box
  3. Change the order using the edit button in the top-right
