It looks ok to me, but I’m also a learner, so… for this kind of thing I recommend getting corrections from natives here: https://langcorrect.com/
Is it from Genki? It looks very familiar. What I really wanted to respond was これはペンです which I hope you also find funny
And if you are studying Genki, then actually I wouldn’t recommend to srs stuff like this. The vocab and phrases in Genki are enough, and these kinds of things will be repeated so much as you go through the exercises, you shouldn’t need it. To branch out a bit for more practice you could read these: https://learnnatively.com/series/c78f246213/
They are free! If you like paper, a publisher called ASK does some very high quality graded readers I liked a lot. Genki does some as well but they are very expensive.
Thanks a lot! You’re right, it’s from Genki (Lesson 2). I’m still figuring out what works best for me, and I’ll definitely use your advice. Thank you for the links as well — I’m sure they’ll come in handy.
But otherwise they’re grammatically fine, if a tad stilted. (And I reckon the waiter is speaking in the wrong formality register, but that’s a different matter, which you’ll learn about later.)
I mainly wanted to check whether they’re grammatically correct. I realize these sentences probably aren’t even close to being natural, but I wanted to understand the grammar better by using textbook-style sentences instead of single-word Anki cards without context. Still, I’d really appreciate any comments or suggestions
