I’m having the same issue. For me, it’s even weirder, since on the first go around it said I had guru’d 族, but on a subsequent review 5 minutes later, leveled up to Apprentice.
EDIT: Review counter just went up from 52 to 54. The Ultimate Timeline extension is telling me that I have 127 reviews, but I know for a fact that I just did them 10 minutes ago.
Also happened to me with apprentice itens yesterday (lost connection although I didn’t). I just had to repeat the one I had when the lost connection happened.
Today I didn’t get any message. I did 3 reviews and after a while I had to do the same 3 reviews again.
EDIT: So today I did my first 7 days round on the level 1 radicals and it said they were upgraded to Guru (although they were in Guru already). Not sure if that’s a bug or if it takes more than 1 turn to upgrade them to Master.

I had a review set of 7 items that I completed this morning. Had the hiccup of the review session not clearing out at first. Waited a little bit and no problem, it eventually showed a normal interval to my next review session. (I think it was a couple of hours away.) Then was reading some forum posts and when I went back to the dashboard, I suddenly had the same 7 items up for review again. I am on my computer at work and therefore not running any userscripts, if that’s helpful info.
I haven’t done any reviews in 18 hours. Did 9 radicals. It’s still showing my last review session from yesterday in the review summary and none of the radicals I just did.
had a review of 70-ish items (first of the day)
completed in less than half an hour - immediately started review of 40-ish items
many were from the first 70
completed - immediately started review of 30 items - completed
many were from the one previously seen
immediately started review of 40 items - completed

I just re-did some of my reviews, having the same issue.
I reloaded the review summary page and as I clicked away a dialog box popped up. But I was too late. I can’t reproduce it either to see what it was going to say.
Been doing the same batch of 25 reviews twice now and they’re still there.
My review counter was at zero for quite a while but the Review timeline extension showed me that the same 25 items were still there and waiting, and not long after that they popped up in the review counter again.
So I did them (again) but it’s still like this… rip in rest.
I’m getting pretty much the same behaviour. Not sure if my reviews are actually being saved, but this seems to be messing with my SRS levels
I’m having the same issue, I’ve done the same review like 4x now for around 50 different items over the last 3 hours. I’m at work so this is seriously bugging me because I’m not getting work done. I can’t keep my account below 20 reviews because it keeps randomly resurrecting half the ones I just finished.
glad to see there’s a thread for this. i just did 200 reviews to have this issue too and they’re all slowly popping back up… 
Is there any other data that would help or should we just hang tight at this point?
I’m convinced that WaniKani uses Production as their Development environment and has no QA engineers. The number of bugs that have been getting introduced lately is ridiculous. And what’s worse, it’s a tossup if they’ll actually fix the bugs they’re introducing.
I just finished over a 100 reviews and it seems none of them registered as the items view 0 times answered correct. Now they keep coming back slowly to the reviews (from 0 to now at 14, and the number keeps growing). The review summary also doesnt work. The items I answered correctly after resurrection didn’t register either.
I guess this would have been only a very minor inconvenience if I didn’t just put off going to sleep to do the reviews so they would be ready tomorrow for another review…
i’m stuck in an endless loop of reviews
7 items popped up (that I had already guru’d, mind you) and when I finished that batch, it took me to another batch of 5, then THAT took me to another batch of 5, then it took me to a batch of 30…

in addition to having to do current reviews over and over immediately after completing them …
when I came to write my first note I had 30-ish pending … when I got back to my dashboard, it went up to 50 …
just a few seconds ago, after coming here and back again, its now up to 65 … in less than 10 minutes and not across any half-hour review boundary’
update: there and back again … now its up to 67.
update: now its down to 64 ( I promise I did not do any)
I also see my “next hour” and “next day” totals moving up and down
as well as the quantities shown for apprentice/guru/master … etc changing on their own without my doing any reviews/lessons.
Mine went all the way up and and now they’re going back down again by themselves… Did 71… down to 50… they seem to be reversing the issue.
I haven’t had the reviews come back yet but I should have leveled up. It’s showing that I still have 48 reviews but I can’t actually do any of them.
So, I don’t know if this is connected to your update, but there’s been this weird orange man in the White House for the last few months and he keeps on saying crazy things. There don’t seem to have been so many external effects so far but, yeah, it’s pretty weird. Hoping if I just keep hitting refresh he’ll go away.
