Japanese Description
あと4日で、地球滅亡……!? 衝突の危機がせまった彗星を調べるため、ムーミントロールはスニフと共に、天文台へ大冒険。スナフキン、スノークのおじょうさんとの出会いも!
English Description
When Moomintroll learns that a comet will be passing by, he and his friend Sniff travel to a mountain observatory to consult the Professors. Along the way, they have many adventures, but the greatest adventure of all awaits them when they learn that the comet is headed straight for their home in Moominvalley.
Reason for Nomination
I see Moomin merchandise in Japan all the time, he’s a Japanese cultural icon despite being from Finland. The friendships of the characters are heartwarming and they each have their individual personality quirks. It’s a warm and cozy read, perfect for the winter months. I know this because I have the b&w comics in English. ![]()
Also I already bought the Japanese box set so I will be reading them all regardless but we could read together. Adventures are more fun with friends. ![]()
Hooray! I have one of the Moomin books in Japanese already, but not this one… definitely need a complete set ![]()
If no one else has nominations, I’ll get the poll up and running later today!
Oh, and an edition note for Moomin-
It seems that the editions you linked are a partial furigana version. This is the same edition that’s on Bookwalker as well.
There’s also a newer aoitori edition with full furigana. Here it is on CDJapan. I’m not sure if you can get this edition digitally.
MOOMIN MENTIONED!!!@!!! (I have never consumed a piece of Moomin media.)
Well, there’s an easy fix for that, just vote for it in the next poll!
MOOMIN MOOMIN MOOMIN

I haven’t found the Version with Furigana in bookwalker.
I don’t think the furigana version is available digitally, I haven’t been able to find it yet. It might just be physical only.
Voting time, what a happy time!

So cute!! I noticed that Japan makes a lot of Moomin merch, they definitely appreciate Moomin
I don’t see Moomin much in America and had never heard of him before I was in college.
Just a bit. For example, Hanno in Saitama (just outside the border with Tokyo) has the Tove Jansson Akebono Children’s Forest Park.
How am I just finding out about this??? Adding to my sightseeing spots list for next trip. ![]()
So I was fluffing around on Google Maps after posting that one, and I happened to spot Moomin Valley Park, also in the area. This one’s more explicitly about Moomins, and is better serviced by public transport, but it costs money to enter. And of course there’s the Moomin Cafe in Tokyo.
I’m going to visit them all. ![]()
