Sakubun - A tool to get customized kanji practice (integrates with WaniKani)

I’ve added a new “Mark reading” option, that’s only available when “Include textbox” is unselected:

It uses a simple diffing algorithm to highlight the kanji in the question and the readings in the answer, so you can more easily verify if you guessed the correct reading when you’re not typing out the answer.

In some cases some extra kana are highlighted as well when they occur between two kanji, but the highlight errors are never actually harmful imo. Personally the highlights make it a lot easier for me on mobile especially, when it’s too tiresome to type out the readings each time so I can quickly just read the question in my mind and verify the answer with the highlights.

If you have any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to let me know!

Omg this is exactly what I was looking for!!

I’d managed to learn Hiragana and Katakana easily enough but Kanji practice was tricky.

Can’t believe I can personalise and add Kanji based on what I know so easily?? I’m learning Kanji from many sources so I didn’t want to restrict myself to a certain level or drown in too many Kanji I didn’t know.

This is the perfecttt balance. Thanks @aravk33! Neat code. Also just wanted to say I really liked Sakubun’s aesthetic+clean interface and its been pretty intuitive to use so far as well.

I just had a chance to use Sakubun. It was excellent and so easy yo use.
I imported my wanikani kanji and on my level it is more than 1000. The option to set how mahy kanji to use is a great flexibility.

Just to express my kansha.
I am using Sakubun every day to read by using its quiz. Set to 10-30 kanji to challenge myself.

I’ve just released a massive new feature! You can now sign up to create an account here, which will allow you to sync your saved kanji and all other data automatically across devices. Once you log in, it’ll ask you if you want to upload any local data that you already have:

All existing features will still continue to work without signing in - this is just added functionality! Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the sign in process, or if you have suggestions for improvements.

hello I’m getting error while trying to import kanji via WK API.
I’ve pressed the import button but not a single kanji appears

I am experiencing the same issue.

Hey @Ashh, @teamaiden - can one of you try again now and check if it’s still broken?

I tried again. It’s still broken for me.

Do you mind sending me an email (aravkasi@gmail.com) so we can debug further? Importing seems to work with my account, so I wonder what is specifically wrong here

Do note that only kanji that are currently Guru+ will be imported, so I wouldn’t be surprised if fewer kanji show up than you expect - however it would be extremely unusual if no kanji show up at all despite having Guru+ kanji

Jumping in to express my interest after viewing this thread. Unfortunately nothing successfully imported on my side either.

If someone facing the issue could send me an email at aravkasi@gmail.com, it would greatly help debug :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have just sent an email to you with screenshots of the issue, I hope its somewhat helpful. Thanks

Thanks to everyone for reporting the issue! It should be resolved now. Do let me know if you encounter any other problems.
