I got a s7se tablet to help with my study. When using the “S-Pen to text” option I can’t write small kana. I need to open the keyboard and use the button to transform it. Is there a solution? It’s otherwise perfect to type on search engines and such.
Hm. It works fine on my S23 Ultra when I write.
Couple of quick clarifications:
-
Which keyboard are you using? Samsung’s or Google’s?

When writing, are you making sure to write the small kana with the preceding one (writing りょ) or are you trying to separate them out and write them individually (り, let it input, then よ)? As far as I’m aware, you do need to write them together, making sure the small kana is written smaller than the large.
Thank you. I was trying to type them separately. Samsung is surprisingly good, the detection is great.I guess only a beginner would be typing each kana individually, that’s why I didn’t find a solution before.
No problem! I’m happy I could help.
I also am impressed with Samsung’s detection. It is pretty good, even with kanji!
Nothing like cursing the detection only to realize your stroke order was wrong. Never making that mistake again.
I’ve been really surprised with how good the detection is as well. And it doesn’t seem too fussed about stroke order, either.
Did you notice that when you read there is an extra menu on the side that you can activate with the pen, and one of the options is to use the pen to target text for google character recognition? I’ve found that super useful for reading to do quick lookups. I’m not sure how far along you are, but once you start reading, check it out! I wrote a post about it here.
The other feature that is nice for reading is to set up multiple windows, ie, one with what you’re reading it and a side by side document or dictionary.
