I currently work as a penetration tester and have quite the collection of english-language infosec Twitter and Youtube accounts I follow and keep up with. I’ve been working on Japanese seriously for about 6 months now and would like to work there someday in my current field. With that goal in mind I want to try and incorporate some Japanese-language accounts on the subject of hacking, cybersecurity, or information security but I’m finding it difficult to find good accounts due to my lack of knowledge on terminology used to discuss the subject in Japan.
If anyone out there can suggest some accounts they’re familiar with I would greatly appreciate it!
I’m not really looking for companies that provide cyber security services or information on learning cyber security which is mostly what I see from the search link you provided as far as I can tell.
I’m more looking to find the Japanese hacker scene if it exists. That’s why I was asking about Twitter accounts and YouTube accounts. There’s a lot of networking and information on new techniques happening on Twitter in the English infosec community and I just wanted to know if there was something similar in Japan and if anyone knows of any prominent accounts that would be good to follow.
I’d still try the videos tab from the google results. Watch a few of the less corporate looking videos and the YouTube recommendation engine should do the rest.
I’d say the move here is to figure out some key terms in your field, then search for those terms on YouTube. One way to do this is by going to a wikipedia page for a given concept, then looking on the sidebar to switch the page into its Japanese version. That way you’ll have the page for the concept on Japanese wikipedia which should yield some helpful vocabulary to work with.
For example: One field I’m interested in is Natural Language Processing (NLP). To find JP information on this topic, I could think of a topic within that field, word embeddings, and go to its wikipedia page, then look at the sidebar which will take me to its Japanese page. From this I’ve just got a bunch of useful words: 自然言語処理 (NLP), 言語モデリング (Language modeling), 構文解析 (parsing), etc.
Yep, that would have been my suggestion as well. If you struggle to find the appropriate words, apart from the excellent Wikipedia suggestion, you could search Jisho with the “computing” tag: #words #comp - Jisho.org This gives you a list of all words tagged as computing-related, and you can of course add your own search terms to it to narrow it down.
