Reading Vol. 4・ゆるキャン△・ Laid-Back Camp 🏕 (Beginner Book Club)

horror flashbacks of EIKEN prep. Please look at the picture below and describe the scene. “The man is reading a newspaper.” “The girl is walking a dog” “The boys are playing baseball.”

I kid I kid… but yeah those are some rough times as an English tutor.

Good idea. Or rotate reading a panel. I can’t remember the channel now, but I watched some manga reading videos on youtube like that, where people just took it in turns to read a panel, and then discussed / explained the grammar and what-not, and it worked really well.

I almost voted “Yes”, but then I remembered I’m not even reading YuruCamp :camping:

Too late. You’re reading it now. Better get a copy.

Week 2 is here!

We’re reading to the end of the first chapter this week.

Just finished adding all the vocabulary words and 3rd read through of chapter two and finished the first read through of chapter three. Not so much about being an eager beaver but wanting to not fall behind!!

Did you purposely set the poll to be single-select only? I wonder how much of a convergence we can get that way though…

Also, what day is this on?

I think allowing multiple choices would be the way to go here.

Alright, I’ll make a new one, allowing multiple choices. Which day would suit you guys? I’m saying Saturday is a pretty good choice.

Saturday’s passed. You thinking we’ll read the whole chapter in one sitting next week? Otherwise we’ll fall behind.

Saturdays, pick the most suitable time for you. And what do you say we read Chapters 1.1 and 1.2 this Friday? Starting with Chapter 2 next Saturday. These are the times in UTC±00:00. Sorry about all the delays, mixups and mistakes, this is my first time doing something like this.

  • *UTC±00:00 00:00
  • *UTC±00:00 01:20

It’s better to do a live reading towards the end of the corresponding book club week rather than the start. After the start of the followig weeks works too. Means everyone’s had the chance to read through it at least once, and crunch through the grammar.

(Big tip for all: practice the reading. Same as you’d practice your part if you played an instrument in a band, if everyone practices the reading before we do it for real, it goes a lot more smoothly.)

You’re right, then how about we read the Chapters 1.1 and 1.2 on Saturday 9th, and Chapter 2 on Satuday 16th and so on. Do you think that would work?

Any final decision on reading date and time?

Seems like Saturday, UTC00:00 09:20 is the top choice. I’m ready to go with it.

I suddenly realise that I’m utterly confused!
(and my votes were made in total confusion about the time!)
Can someone help me out?
Is that 9.20 Saturday morning in Japan?
Is that 9.20 tomorrow morning?

UTC±00:00 09:20 would be 18:20 in Japan Standard Time. And yes, Saturday, tomorrow.

That should be the time of the reading in whatever your local timezone is.
