They’ve been moved, but let me know if I missed something!
It looks good to me!
Now we look crazy. Why am I teasing you for posting in the home thread when you clearly posted in the week 2 thread all along?
Aaaaand week 3 is here:
We’re reading the entirety of chapter 2 this week, so it’s a reasonable step up in page count, but it’s not at all double the pace we’ve been going up till now. You can do it!
I am just waiting for the week when I accidentally post the new Kitty Detectives thread on the Friday…
Just want to encourage people to post their questions, however ‘basic’ they feel, now that we’re a couple of weeks in
Everybody has to read their first book / manga at some point, and the more questions and answers there are, the more we all learn. The benefit of community learning is that it’s much more efficient than fifteen people separately all trying to work something out on their own.
Be lazy! Post away! you’re doing others a service
The manga is free again according to this post.
Just saw that this is free and I really need to read something Japanese. Kinda hectic atm but this looks like a nice read… I hope I can catch up to you guys
Since I apparently blacked out when this thread was first created, I’m just gonna leave it here in case people find it helpful:
(not really for reading through, unless you’re the kind of person who reads dictionaries, but might be helpful as a reference)
This was incredibly helpful for me… I was always wondering where my grammar was lacking so much and I guess it was in these casual ways of speaking. Thanks!
Chapter 3 is here
This has some strong dialect from the cousins’ father, but half the point is that Makoto has no clue what he’s saying either, so I wouldn’t stress over trying to decipher it.
I’m gonna do it anyway.
50% of the words are either straight Japanese (e.g. 裏 ある 使えば 草 シャベル) or slightly modified prononciations (e.g. 家ー>え 畑ー>はだけ あそこ ー> あそご なんでー> はんで)
With the context, it’s somewhat understandable. It’s interesting to check against the translation from 千夏 too
What is this? Is it like a dictionary or something? Sorry if its a stupid question… I haven’t caught up yet and am also very much a new reader in general
千夏 (Chinatsu) is the name of the younger sister =)
Might be helpful to have a quick look at this character names are always super confusing if you don’t realise what you’re looking at.
Here is a fun thing:
You don’t get satellite view or street view from this interface, but the person who put it together has a blog with scenes from the manga/anime and photos. Will be very spoilery, so I don’t plan to look through them right now.
For the Google Maps, it looks like when you select a location (seems to be mostly for volume two of the manga and some episodes of the anime?), you can click on the image on the left to see the media art and a photo. Helps to zero in on scenes we’ve already encountered.
