Reading Pitch Notations - Help

Hello, I am just starting out learning Japanese phonetics. I have collected the resources recommended in other community posts and will, after a few weeks, start looking at Dogen’s phonetics lessons.
My question is more specific and immediate: When applying a pitch notation (as below), should the pitch rise (or lower) as I say the syllable or should the difference in pitch between syllables be more sudden?
E.g. For the word ‘to attach’ (TsuKeRu), should the transition from low to high occur as I say ‘Tsu’ or after I say ‘Tsu’ and as I say ‘Ke’?
Thank you.

I think the best advice is… listen to the audio of both recordings and mimic them. Thinking about it as you speak isn’t going to be productive in the long run.
