Ahh, this is just my specific circumstances! I’m working 4 different jobs technically. Job 1 won’t let me work another day and pays like shit (I love the work, but I gotta pay taxes and buy groceries, so…)
Job 2 is shit and has no available shifts, so I’m really just sticking around in work chats to So much drama and craziness
Job 3 is nice! It’s remote but max 10h a month, so I can’t survive off it
Job 4 is new and if things outside my control go well, I can go full time and get permanent employment.

I thought tumblr had decided there wasn’t enough recent Qifrey/Olruggio content (or whatever random metric it uses, because it doesn’t seem to be just recency—or popularity under the “top” tab, for that matter) to show me more than a few posts, but it turns out I’ve been spelling things wrong. “orufrey” is much more popular than “olufrey,” even though the L comes first in his name! His is one of apparently only two names in this series I actually know how to romanize (the other being Coco), and it betrayed me. There’s a lot of posts, just as I expected, and all of them save for like every third one is designed to rip your heart out, also as I expected. Apparently the next big chapters for them are 90-93, which! Will be vol 16! Which should only be one chapter away, so hopefully not too long but definitely still longer than expected… Ough
I used a guide to find the last キュイ族. It was the first one you’re “supposed” to find—it’s on the other side of a rope spanning from the ledge you climb up on from inside the tree behind the elder. I remember going in there, but I must not have climbed the ivy, because I definitely don’t remember that burr-covered rope. Anyway, I’ve now gotten the slingshot, and thus the bug net from Terry’s (Beedle’s?) shop. I thought Gulliver talking in a mix of kanji, hiragana, and katakana was bad, but Terry talking in all kanji and katakana is worse. At least it’s a shopkeep and not, say, Fi talking like that. I won’t have to deal with it that much.
And hopefully the fact that enemies respawn means I won’t derail too much and just go around catching bugs and nothing else lol. I don’t even know what you do with them besides collect them
Whew, finally made it through the week!! I took a 2 hour nap when I got home 'cause I was so exhausted. It’s been a long, exhausting, challenging week, but things are looking up. Happy that I was able to keep this challenge up even through some tough days! As for my WK lessons, well… I’ve missed a few days.
I can’t believe its nearly been a month!! Look at us go! Reflecting a bit, it’s been revolutionary to be able to actually interact with the language, even with a lot of assistance. For awhile there I was really not getting much exposure to actual Japanese at all, and while I’ve still a long ways to go with vocab, I’m feeling more confident and comfortable with my learning. Plus, I’ve been really digging into the grammar. This was a weak point for a minute, having started grammar lessons and tapering off in 3 different places here and there, but never fully progressing through N5 despite having a surface level knowledge of a lot of it. I started with MaruMori in late November and I’m nearly done with the N5 lessons now!! Can’t wait to push into N4!
Anyway, read 第3話 of 夜の名前を呼んで this evening, which featured a letter and some backstory about ミラ’s parents and hometown. This one got me pretty emotional. I’m really enjoying the way that magic is presented in this world, and the well-handled storytelling. Also, this one was very flower-focused, which is very much scratching my itch for garden-related stuff. Anyone have any iyashikei- or educational-type gardening manga recommendations???

I’ve had a mix of some really good reading days and a few lower energy days. Started and finished volume 2 of No.6, I’m really enjoying the series so far. I’ll probably continue on to the next volume once I finish one of the other books. Then I’m finally getting into 世界でいちばん透きとおった物語 which I’ve been meaning to start for a while, mainly because I’m dying to know what could possibly be the reason it’s “impossible to adapt to digital” as advertised on the back. My current theory is maybe it has something to do with looking through the pages? Would potentially tie into the 透き通った part of the title. I was hoping to finish volume 19 of Flesh and Blood this month but schedule wise it’s looking like it’ll be early February.
Apologies for the 15 day update! I’ve been travelling and struggled to get online much. Starting the journey home tonight with a couple of stops on the way. Only missed one day (when I was unwell) but had quite a few days without much reading. It’s been tiring but good. Think I should catch up on the way home.
Ok I didn’t quite read for 10 mins today but I did read one page so it still counts! よつばと！② and Shirokuma Cafe bis 1 arrived in the mail too so plenty of reading. I will be reading all day tomorrow… on the plane to Japan! I will be there for the next week, かなり嬉しい
Guess it reviews and reread time… less exciting for a bit .
But I am very excited for the next section 15. 前原屋敷 when I’ll get to it.
The end of this section proved to me that I could follow the story enough to do the look-ups during reading without them being overwhelming unlike a few months back and that is a small but important milestone in my reading !
