Bunrpo reading passages were…ravished…
I got on a reading spree and even read the ones I had cleared before
Listened to my YOASOBI songs and parsed some words…reading lyrics feels sometimes easier than watching ghibli movies 
Now Today I am watching “My Neighbour Totoro” (my first animated material since I started my yapanese journey)…hopefully my brain doesn’t melt too early

ちいさな森のオオカミちゃん - 5 pages (85%)
Definitely got to read something with more of a plot next even if it’s harder, I do not care about any of these characters sadly.
Somehow I managed to read 200/523 pages of 黒牢城 in 3 days, so I guess I might be on track to finish it before my self-imposed deadline…? (No news of the movie getting released in my country yet which unfortunately isn’t surprising, but I digress.) The prose isn’t too hard to follow and there is elaboration on the more unfamiliar sengoku jidai related terms, which is perfect for a jidai shousetsu newbie like me. The insight the book offers into the dynamics between warriors of different standings/affiliations and their precarious circumstances (though I guess this applies to everyone by extension lol) during the sengoku jidai is really cool to behold. Of course, I also enjoy the way Araki and Kuroda sound each other out, can’t wait to see how this battle of wits unfold.
It’s summer and it seems I have nothing better to do than joining this reading challenge.

finished and then reread section 1 of this chapter. the reread was pretty clutch, bc the first time through was a bit of a slog and then i could feel like an actual reader of Japanese the second time through.
i continue to be really captivated by the way that pages and pages of dialogue can skate by with nary a “he said” and nobody gets confused because the diction, and particularly the choice of sentence-final particles, is very clearly delineated between different characters.

Back to Animal Crossing today - I’ve finally got far enough to set up my テント! Today I came across my anki nemesis 必要 (necessary/needed). For seemingly no reason at all I always mix it up with 絶対 (absolutely) and wind myself up every time I get the definitions switched. Hopefully encountering it in the wild will help me to remember better in the future.
I also had a bit of trouble with たぬきち/Tom Nook, but not the financial kind this time. He ends his sentences with だなも which I thought was a grammar point, so I was frantically searching through my grammar notes and in the dictionary trying to understand it only to come across a Wanikani forum post that points out it’s just his vocal tick. Wasted way too much time on that one!
I’ve seen you posting about this manga a few times now and thought it looked really cute and that I might give it a go at some point, but maybe not now? At least you’re close to finishing the volume!

Had a really good evening of reading, then fell asleep on the couch after, heh. Logging this late but the date was not missed!
Rather enjoyed the last stretch of ささ恋. Probably helped that I wasn’t completely exhausted and falling asleep, but as usual once I got a little ways into the series it got easier. I’m still on the fence about this one a little. One one hand, there were some great moments and I enjoyed encountering the music vocab and learning a few more. On the other, there were some moments of high school おしゃべり that kinda dragged on. I hear that as the series goes on it there are tons of side characters to keep track of. Maybe that’d be a good challenge, but perhaps I don’t want to deal with it. Idk, we’ll see if I pick it up again later but there are things I’d like to read more of first.
In a rather disappointing development, I read the last chapter of 触れたいは恋の始まり. I’d just caught up with the series and was looking forward to keeping up with it as it released, and then I immediately realized it got cancelled. Oh well! In any case, it was a simple but nice story that I enjoyed as one of the easier yuri reads I’ve found. Once all of the volumes are released maybe I’ll recommend it for a book club or something…
Alright, off to the rest of my day and to figure out what I’m reading next! Might read a chapter or two of serialized stuff I need to catch up on, or maybe resume reading 創る庭. We’ll see!

Today I read a grand total of 1 page of 蜘蛛ですが - I’m somewhat under the weather with a cold right now and that was all I could manage today. But every little counts! I’m eager to read more when I feel up to it again though, the series is still super enjoyable.

I’m being a little harsh on it I think ahaha, there’s been some funny moments and I did really like chapters 1 and 4. I think I just went into it expecting a little more conflict to balance out the sacharine sweetness which is probably more on me. And since there’s little conflict the characters come off a little too one note, they are still very cute though.
