Started reading ふらいんぐうぃっち 2 today and got through the first half of the first chapter. I felt like I was flagging a bit because I left it a bit too late in the day to get started but then I learned ’犬のシッコ’ so a mixed success overall.

Oh, I passed the play time of this copy’s previous owner a long time ago. For some reason I was thinking they had 200+ hrs, but it was 126:09. I kinda wish I’d thought to look at their first-completion page in Battle Records, as I am kinda curious how long the main story took them. Definitely quicker than me though, as I took 133:05 lol
Got a new boomerang for Botts! Got a pentarang from a grotto chest and upgraded it into a hexarang. Also got my first pair of metal slime sollerets, which went to that one bunny girl who wants them in exchange for a Venus tear, which went to a sheep in a cave (I have no idea how anyone figured out that’s what it wanted) in exchange for Nokturnus’s map. Which I will not be touching for a good, long while, considering he’s the toughest boss in the game. He’d probably make Orgo look like small fry.

Kinda short reading session today at the end of the week. The reading itself went well until I started nodding off and couldn’t keep my eyes open. All good; this week has be very intense and I don’t feel back about taking a little break tonight. I did also read a few preview pages for other series but I’m not counting those toward my totals.
Time to pass out!
Sick at home for the past two days so I read a lot of Yotsuba to and just finished volume 14. I loved this volume in particular because Yotsuba goes to Tokyo. I stayed for a week in Ikebukuro last September so I felt a bit 懐かしい as she navigated the rail system. If I could only feel the same way about the public transportation I use every day…
Continuing on with 四つ子ぐらし, sometimes it feels like I’m reading it a bit too quickly or I’m not taking enough time to really understand the grammar/phrasing, but at the same time I tell myself that it’s more about “exposure”, I’m not reading it for an exam or an in-depth analysis. That being said I have been wanting to be a bit more attentive to new vocabulary and trying to retain it so I’ve been noting some words along the way.

Mt. Fuji! With a really nice colour gradient - I like too how the bolder tree brings out the gradient of the mountain more.
平安神社の桜 (1937)
The book has some mention about Kasamatsu’s approach to colour but I’d be interested to see if it goes into his colour theory at all. I’d love to know how he picked his palettes.
あさぎり（奈良公園）(1937)
I really like how the trees looked like a faded photograph, really cool effect.

12 more pages of ふらいんぐうぃっち 2 to finish up the chapter I started yesterday. I wish I lived in a world where I find fresh wild vegetables on the side of the road and then make delicious tempura from them when I get home but I’ll just have to live vicariously through this story instead 
I’m trying hard now to not rely on look ups and translations for the first read through of each page and I have a fairly low - mid accuracy rate with understanding what’s being said a lot of the time (let’s be honest the illustrations are what bump it up to mid 
) but it feels nice when I do get the gist of it right, and since I’ve started studying Japanese I’ve tried to always appreciate the small victories

Oops, I read the first volume of Chainsaw Man just in one day of commuting… Interesting that in the anime they cut one of the scenes that would make the first several episodes feel even more one-thing-after-another, but they needed to include some of マキマ’s dialogue from that scene anyway, so they gave it to her during the car scene…
HIGHLY recommend reading at the edge of your ability and then alternating that with comparatively easy stuff, wowowowoww
The first bit of よう実２冊 has 佐倉愛理 as a POV character!! how fun. also, i should rewatch, but the bit where suddenly everybody has a key to 綾小路’s room without him knowing about it was hilarious and i think not in the anime
