Looks great! I carry my books in a hard plastic sleeve with a ziplock. Does the job of protecting my books but your solution is so much more attractive!

Yes, I think it’s normal to double check readings of words you feel like you know. I’ve had this a lot in the beginning. Sometimes it still happens, but more so with semi-frequent(?) words. Most recent example for me is words like 揶揄う or 揺蕩う. As you look up words, the more likely it will stick and you’ll have less lookups later.
Just want to mention as a tip/sidenote that building vocab should come before focusing on reading speed. When lookups naturally decrease, reading speed will pick up. It’s all part of the process.

I read some more ノーゲーム・ノーライフ 1 light novel. Poor ステファニー now that she lost the game they will take advantage of her. Compared to the anime it feels way more funny.

Had a very relaxing day. It’s nice reading without timer. There’s a surprising amount of cooking and baking in this book. Other than that, it has a nice pacing of events.

Late night reading after work again. Played Nekopara Vol. 2 for around 1,5 hours 
And I managed to finish Chapter 5 today.

Did a couple more easy readers and had a pleasant time with them. After reading Windgreen’s lovely study log I realized that I was starting to put too much weight on results again, so I’m happy to say I appreciated my small wins today.

I’m doing the same. I often check something just in case. But even though often I think that I totally knew it and why did I check it again, with some words I see that I was wrong.
I mean, lookups take time for sure, but they help you to cement your knowledge. Maybe next time you won’t look up 暗闇 anymore like you probably don’t look up other words you are 100% sure about. At least that how I rationalize it for myself

well, yesterday was a wash on all reading fronts. on the plus side i got a lot of writing done, which is smth i’ve not had a whole lot time or mental real estate to do lately, so i think that counts as a net positive. no deer king today in favour of trying out to new textbook. definitely designed for classroom work (the listening and speaking sections are pretty much hopeless for me, especially cos it doesn’t come with the bloody cd because ofc it doesn’t) but useful in other ways.
i’ve finally taken infinite wealth out of my table. i feel like i’ve entered a new era
