この嘘がばれないうちに 〜98/191
I like to look up most words I don’t know. But I also choose an appropriate reading level so I don’t need to do too many look-ups (currently I’m reading Levels 26-30 on Natively, but started lower).
I can also definitely recommend Satori Reader as a good starting point especially as you can link it to your WK levels.
As with most things, the more you do, the better you will get - just be regular and don’t choose something that’s too difficult.

吉田博展 - 没後70年
Read up to page 69 - 1925 was a super busy year for Yoshida with all the travelling but 1926 was even busier and ended up being his most prolific year - making 41 prints throughout the whole year, which is crazy progress. That’s like one every nine days.
Artwork
黒部川 - 1926
From the Japanese Alps series - this one is in the Toyama prefecture. I just love the way the water looks as it surges past the rocks, it’s interesting to see how he’s utilised his knowledge of oil/watercolour shading and applied it to the ukiyo-e style.
鷲羽岳の野営 - 1926
I like how this one tells a story, and the way the picture seems to swirl you from the campfire and into the distance mountains. Yoshida himself was a keen mountaineer so this could be a recreation of something he did many times. Mt. Washiba is located in the Nagano & Toyama prefectures.
光る海 - 1926
This is one of his most famous ones - the book goes into a lot of detail saying that Princess Diana (of the UK) even had a copy of it on the wall of her office, and it gives a photo and everything ![]()
This is part of the ‘Inland Sea Series’, he did several portraits like this of sailboats.
帆船 - 1926 (set of 6)
A simple subject of a sailboat on water but I just love how each different time of day/weather gives each one an entirely different mood. I think my favourite may be the seamist or evening one - the seamist is comfortably gloomy and the colours of the evening one are just the best.
No way!! It definitely looks like it! Sounds like an interesting premise for the new series you’ve started and I really like the look of the artsyle too - it has a nice whimsical look.
I generally do try to look up enough to understand things well. It sounds like you’ve decided to move to another book, but remember 夜カフェ was read as part of a book club (I think the BBC), so there will be old threads with questions plus vocab sheets for volume 1.

I really like the spring, summer and Hole in the Wall stories. Time to subscribe to find out what happens next!

I played a bit 英雄伝説 閃の軌跡III. Still didn’t finish the first dungeon but I’m sure I will finish the game before 2030.

Tiny read while having breakfast and a bit during lunch. I’ll be driving long time tomorrow, so probably not much read. Unless on the ferry maybe.

Started a new LN today! I’ll have to abbreviate the title going forward since it’s quite long lol. Can’t say much since I’ve just started the book, but it’s nice to read something easier and lighthearted, so I’m enjoying it ![]()
April 22st - May 6th
OK IT"S BEEN WAY TOO LONG SINCE I UPDATED! I keep thinking, “Oh, I’ll just write an update tomorrow.” and then, “Definitely later today!” Nope, more like TWO weeks later.
But I have been reading every day, somehow! Even if it was just one episode of a Satori Reader series. Since last time, I’ve finished カードキャプターさくら 1 and おじさまと猫 1 which brings my manga read total up to six for this year. My goal is 12, so I feel pretty good about my progress! Side note, my goal for last year was five and I read six, finishing up the 6th one at the very end of the year. Accomplishing something in just a few months that took me an entire year last year feels amazing. I think I might finally be getting somewhere with this language! ![]()
I read two pages from an early graded reader, and had zero problem with it.
Read it like English.

I hope I’m not getting sick, but my throat kinda hurts and it definitely doesn’t feel like it’s in an allergies way. Ugh.
I think I used up all my luck when HPB did in fact have one of the two books my mother wanted for Mothers Day that the website said they didn’t have at the local store. (3 copies! Right there in the New and Bestselling display right when you walk in! wtfdym “out of stock”??)

Finished up the chapter of the Vtuber yuri. It’s absolutely overrun with vocab and slang I don’t know, to the point where I’m not sure it’s worth reading at my level. Still, it’s a wild ride, so we’ll see if I keep at it. The Taisho one I started yesterday seems like a better use of time. ![]()
That’s awesome and a real accomplishment!! Nice!!!
Hope it’s nothing. Feel better!
