Not bad. I think that it becomes better with plain grammar question, but I still struggle with the stars and the text questions.
I am still not a fan of reading in Japanese and I have yet to complete a book. I am still 90 percent into the one I have been reading this year (セマンティックエラー). But after watching 6 episodes of the new BL “School Trip: Joined a Group I’m not close to, I started the novel yesterday. The name is “修学旅行で仲良くないグループに入りました " and thus far it feels easier to read than Semantic Error (although I am still a slow reader). I am now at 13%.

Huh, so Yuuko did meet the person who called her, and it was indeed Kyousuke… but a somewhat younger version than the one she’d known in 2001.
Also it seems like she’s forgotten that his name’s not really Kitamita Kouta. Even if Kyousuke really is back in 2001 now (presumably with the data retrieved from the DKK, since that’s missing, too), that’s not why Kitamita Kouta is missing…
Though it seems her memories of the incident and trial too are hazy, and her head hurts when she tries to think about it. She doesn’t even remember the name of the lawyer who represented her, only that he was kind. It does indeed seem to be the same her from 2001, too. Ryuu went to Yuumeidai to verify that an Onebou Yuuko completed her graduate program there in 2001, and she looks “virtually the same” as in her photo from back then. Interesting.
Huh, the court files from the 2001 case are heavily redacted—and on top of that, the last page is straight up missing. I doubt it was on the judge’s orders, too; he put it on ice so it could be resumed if and when the defendant ever showed up again, and it’s kind of hard to do that when all the details are blacked out, ain’t it? Mayoi’s certain it was the prosecutor who redacted them, which, it would make sense. He’d brought on a witness who used Karuma’s own daughter to fake an alibi—which Karuma didn’t know about until the trial, but still, doesn’t really look good for him—plus at the end Shin proved that he had forged evidence.
So Ryuu and Mayoi still don’t know that “Kitamita-hakase” isn’t actually Kitamita Kouta.
Oh, but what if the “hakase” whom Yuuko spoke to was actually Kyousuke’s nephew who’s practically his spit ‘n’ image? That would explain why he looks a bit younger. Kyousuke was like mid to late 30s, while nephew was in high school in 2001 so he’d be like 30-33 now. He adored and looked up to his uncle—was the only family member Kyousuke actually had a good relationship with—so what if he believes in Yuuko’s guilt and wants her to pay for murdering him, and he decided that if he ever found her, he’d get his revenge, that if she wasn’t going away for his uncle’s murder then she’d go away for one that looks a lot like it. Ough.
Of course, that wouldn’t explain how he knew her cell number or when she’d appear. Though, if “hakase” were actually pre-jump Kyousuke as Yuuko is certain he is, he wouldn’t know either. She thinks he left a note for his past self, but still, how would he have known? Time paradox stuff?
Although… she could have been abducted and put in Kouta’s cold sleep pod. That was completed or very nearly so at the time of the trial. Perhaps he was afraid that if the trial were allowed to conclude, she’d be found not guilty and then naturally he’d be the new prime suspect and his alibi had already been exposed in court, so he set this plan into motion where he’d take her out just before when Kyousuke claimed to have jumped back from and set her up to take the fall for another locked-room murder he’d commit. And he brought in Kyousuke’s nephew or else an actor who could assume his identity. The cold sleep pod slows aging down almost to a halt, and it could explain her mental haziness.

finished relife vol 2 (arata is handling being in the middle of this teen melodrama a lot better than i would) and finally went back to the bakumatsu book! steins;gate has in fact dropped me into a very lengthy science exposition bit but i’m coping okay. sort of. probably. edit: finished reading through the script for the skm n1 listening book, so that was about 8 pages

The cover is beautiful and the prologue is catching, so I got this today. Classified as a children’s book on natively, apparently(?). The temporary level of 22, I’m not sure I agree with. More like standard novel difficulty of 28-32. Not full furigana, but some here and there, e.g. 汝.

Again not bad. The mock test was 12/19. That I can live with. I feel more confident, and I think that I see some progress with star questions (hate them, even though I love puzzles).
November 25
I played a bit 英雄伝説 碧の軌跡. Just started the check passengers in the train quest. Also did some karaoke.
I have gotten to 20% of (page 51 of 248) 修学旅行で仲良くないグループに入りました。This is my 3rd day of reading it so I hope that I can keep up this momentum. It’s more enjoyable after having watched the few episodes of the drama.

The prosecutor is Auchi Takefumi, the first prosecutor whom Ryuuichi faced. I’m kind of disappointed, but I think this is only Ryuuichi’s second case, so it’d be a bit too early for Reiji to show up. But still, for Yuuko to be represented by Mitsurugi Shin and then fifteen years later prosecuted by Mitsurugi Reiji… I liked that idea.
This is why I should just shut up and read and not think about anything relating to the story.
omg his first witness is Yahari, who was working as a security guard at Kitamita Research Centre on the night of the incident. Of course he was.
