some chapters of an average BL on cmoa (which i won’t link cos it was 18+) and some more men at arms. there’s no chapters, but there’s fairly frequent breaks between sections so it’s not really an issue.

Got to read a bit before work. My day has otherwise been stressful (busy at work, customers being weird, losing my wallet, hangry af, luckily found wallet again, but I was so annoyed at that point). Didn’t spend as much time reading as I could have.

Got caught up in 恋人 & read right up until the end.
Regrettably here to report i have broken my reading streak, just too busy (in my defence i am in japan rn so I’m getting overloaded as is). I’m going to rest for a bit and start again when I’m ready
Haven’t been reading as much Yotsuba as I would like. I’ve been more focused on burning through my backlog of reviews - good news: I have burned many of the items that were waiting for me upon my return here.
Most of the stuff I’ve been reading are short exercises on Busuu (app), Duolingo Japanese stories, and doing the English course for Japanese learners on Duolingo too. Not a lot, I know. But as I said, much of my focus rn was getting through that backlog.
I also learned that Pokemon Scarlet/Violet has furigana! so I bought Scarlet and started it today. The frustrating thing is that I can almost always recognize half of the kanji in a word I don’t know (but still can’t decipher the word), which in a turn of events, has renewed my enthusiasm for getting through WK again. The game has been fun, and despite the frustration that I face against myself for not doing WK faster (lol), coming across those unfamiliar words enough times over and over has really hammered in vocabulary unexpectedly fast.
Someone once said that reading was the original SRS, and atp I’m convinced it is. ![]()
Side note: I learned English with Pokemon Silver so maybe this is the way…

I wanted to try something new today so I started a new VN - Vampire’s Melody. It looks cute so far! For some reason it doesn’t work well with my texthooking tools, but that just means that I have to spend more time reading and decoding kanji. Wich should be a good thing, I guess!
I have done Christmas Tina Ch.1 in JP a while ago, and there was a club in Natively Forum. (I was bothered by the font. Maybe within allowed range, but I don’t practically see Chinese-like anywhere else.) But, now in simplified Chinese. Still mostly JP voiced so far. Also, I can generally read Chinese, but not having an even “close enough” pronunciation – so, fierce look up (with a finger and smartphone app).
Everything’s gonna alright if I can calm down and not rush,… and rest enough
SRS is too full to be added to, though.

Today I read the two side story chapters (and two manga pages) and finished out volume 4 of the 本好き junior novel! Which also means that’s my fifth novel finished of my five novel goal for the year so achievement get! This one wasn’t actually any faster than the last one, it’s like 5% longer and took 5% more time, but it felt like from about halfway it was at least going easier, if not faster. At least in 13 days it’s my fastest in calendar time ![]()
Made a push on Bocchi to finish the chapter, and the end of side quest week 1 is in sight.

I woke up early and did a ton of reading
It was a lot of fun. Just 3 chapters left (they’re extra long). The epilogue started at 60% this time, usually it’s around 80-90%. So many side stories at the end and “behind the scenes” from other characters’ perspective.
Also read ぼっち・ざ・ろっく week 2.

I started a new graded reader resource and am starting from level 0 again! I was planning to blitz through them to get up to my level as quick as possible, but this week has been a lot and I did the bare minimum. I’m proud of myself for reading japanese even though I was traveling though!
Before I went on my trip, I was recommended a book club on this forum, and so I decided that I will take part in it - my very first japanese book club! We will be reading Doraemon sorted by difficulty and I am so excited! It’s starting next month! I read a sample chapter and it reassured me that I was ready for something like this. I thought I would not be ready for a japanese book club until I was at least level 10, so it’s really cool that I’ll be doing this! So excited!
