A bit late report 🙂 So, the 2 month challenge is completed. I manage to read every day at least a little bit, and I think that it helped me to develop a very good habit!
In February I clearly had less time for Japanese than in January.
I spent 4h32 on manga (3 volumes) and 16h14 on HP and a bit of the Wolf.
I think that I won’t post in March, but I plan to continue reading every day! But probably a bit less, because I want to prioritize output for a while.

Read the first chapter of Bluelock Episode Nagi Vol 2. It took me just short of an hour and half, which is wild to me as at the start of Jan, when I started Vol 1 it was taking me 15-20 mins per page 😂 Really nice to see genuine progress as a result of reading more!

Finished Flowers: Été and made good progress on Quartet Chapter 6, so I think I will be faster now at reading 舞妓さんちのまかないさん 🙂 also it does help that I feel like the story picks up a bit since volume 13 (not really a spoiler per se but putting spoiler tags in case people reading with the offshoot don’t want to know anything about the volumes ahead)

- 夜カフェ 1 (27.77% → 49.32%)
Real life got in the way and I stopped updating here for two weeks. However, I did read every day, even if a lot of days reading was minimal. I will consider this challenge a success, since I did form a consistent habit of daily japanese reading 🎉
The not so good part, is that my reading pace slowed down a lot during these weeks — lately I have been reading 夜カフェ at a BBC pace, while in the beginning I was reading at 2-3x that speed.
I also continued my habit of a weekly DoBJG study session, and Natively says I have already read 37% of that book.
The official challenge has ended, but I will continue to participate during the month of March! I don’t except to be able to pick up much speed this month, but I plan to at least continue to read something daily. I will probably only write a weekly update, but I will keep following this thread to see everyone’s progress!

I got caught up on Seasons ☃ and reached the part I began! I want to reread it and see how much more I understand 1 year later, but I might be less fastidious about reading on time and whatnot.
I got confused on Not a Guy 🎵 and ended on the wrong page… These half stamped numbers are hard to read…
Fudanshi 👨👦👦 was more fun this week. I like following Kaede’s life and it seems like we’re getting a dad update next chapter!
JoJo 2 🗡 one of my fav chapters lol
I got so into SBR 🏇 ! I had to find out who won the leg! I was cheering on Pocoloco the whole time and hoping Sandman would get 2nd. I love that they had the spectators calculate their speeds. Like yeah, that is very humanly possible if you know the distance and time so why not? I’m also starting to think that Part 7 might be the fastest I portionly read a Part lol. I don’t love any of the characters, but they’re all pretty interesting so far and Johnny seems like less of a shit in vol 2.

I’ve started the Odyssey of reading my first book, a casual L37?? sci-fi space opera _light_ novel. I was wondering how this was ever categorized as a _light_ novel but yeah, there’s the cover and they later turned this into an anime series.
This series of books has been my forever goal since around year 2002, and I’m not getting any younger, so let’s just get straight into it. What I lack in skill I’ll make up for with determination. What could go wrong? 😅

Three pages in, I wipe my sweaty brow and consider this wild amount of new vocabulary to learn and memorize. I’m actually very surprised by how much I could kind of sloppily deduce based on learning from WaniKani. Coming across words like 星系外移住計画 and 恒星間移民船 and it’s just a matter of not panicking and reading the kanji.
I am also impressed by how extensive the physics vocabulary of JMdict is.
I guess it always takes a bit of time to settle into the rhythm of a book. It’s not uncommon to have some heavy setup at the start of a sci-fi book. I’ll keep fighting at least until our protagonists meet and the dialogue starts. It can’t be this heavy all the way to the end. 😆

I’m a little sick and tired of some boys/men telling to their love interest in the manga/visual novels : “Be careful, I don’t know if I can hold back right know.” I just want to answer to them : “you’re a grown-up, I’m sure you can behave a few hours without the girls around having to brace themselves for what you could do to them, can’t you ?” 😮💨

It’s the arc with the travel to the east and the pest, right? The bugs are not my favorite, but the suffering it caused was wearing me down 😅 . What’s worse, I feel, is that things are getting political and I don’t like one of the characters involved in that (so that’s kinda stressful). Another thing is that I was intrigued in what’s going to happen with Maomao and Jinshi, like she very obviously is not interested in having a relationship with him, but he’s pushing for her, right? I like romance, but not when it is non-consensual 😅 So I’m not sure where it is supposed to be going from here. Right now, I’m reading with an open mind and hoping I won’t lose interest again like during summer 😃 If I can, I don’t want to drop this series. (I hope that was an acceptable amount of spoilers!)
