1 fiction chapter + a little non fiction reading in English

Been a while since I got to add to my calendar. November in fact. Took me a tiny bit to get into it, and I’m still kinda getting there. And yet, I haven’t seen if I’ve gotten better since I read it last, like knowing more. But one thing I do better, is be okay with ambiguity, and skipping looking up a word or two if I can figure out the sentence probably isn’t that important.

Plus, with a log as many VNs have, it isn’t like it would be hard to go back and look it up if I discovered a couple of lines later that I needed it.

Also poking my head back into books in English which makes me happy. I had a pretty good streak going through the later part of January, but it just kinda fell apart at some point. I spent more time watching videos and gaming, than reading, so both reading Japanese and English didn’t happen.

At least I am still ahead on my English book reading goal of finishing a book a week. I have a feeling I might be a bit behind on my Japanese reading goals, at least when it comes to the harder reading of VNs and novels, but if I can get in the habit of Loopers and B$, then I’d probably be back on track in a couple of months. Easier said than done.

Also, anyone here interested in reading Ouran Highschool Host Club? The manga I mean. The anime has an end, but perhaps a bit rushed. And the manga is something like 18 volumes, and the anime only covers 8 of those if my info from the web is right.

Me and a few others are interested in reading it and was thinking of starting in May/June, and if more people are interested, we could make a schedule club out of it. If not, I guess we’ll maybe have a casual club instead. ^^

I might consider popping in at the beginning to see how it feels. I haven’t done any book clubs because reading is a solitary activity for me and I like it that way but I love Ouran High School Host Club. I have the whole series in English and the first 3 volumes in Japanese. I was also planning to start reading it this year for the reading challenge so… we’ll see.

I’d be down. I happened to buy vol 1 the other week and I’ve resigned myself to getting another bookcase, so I’d probably be able to stick around for the whole series too. I really loved the anime in high school and when I rewatched as an adult in college, it wasn’t too bad except for a couple of jokes that aged very poorly.

Ah hah, so I ordered some DJs recently, and they were delivered today to someone in Tennessee. I live in Texas. And the tracking info says they were left with an individual, not at a residence, which means someone looked at that package with an unfamiliar name and address and went, “Yup, that’s me.” What the hell. I don’t know what to do. Well I hope whoever it is can read Japanese and likes BL!

Also, (ch2) このブック・カースめ, Sansho and Miki are best friends, why would you do them dirty like this! I dunno what’s worse, my original fear that Miki wouldn’t be in it because he’s in the role of Ricky’s dead partner, or the reality that he’s in the role of a cop who’s after Ricky (and possibly is the one who killed his partner…)

I finished this week’s reading of この本を盗む者は, just in time for me to open the week 6 thread I’ve had a pretty rough week at work and have been wiped out in the evenings, so didn’t read at all the past two days.

As a result I am yet again playing catch up to my book clubs, and read 14/34 pages of 七回死んだ男. It’s not a bad book but it is ever so long winded. Someone in the club already finished it and their main complaint is that it was far longer than it needed to be. I’m enjoying the book well enough, but I agree. I’m hoping whatever the next Mystery Book Club pick is has a bit more excitement.

Debating trying to finish 七回死んだ男 tonight or starting on the レベル７ reading I’m also running behind on

The cheering worked! Chapter 1 complete I definitely had more left than I thought (not that I had any actual concept, just intuition) but I had actual time to sit down and read today, plus things started happening so I would’ve been hard-pressed to stop anyway Yay progress!

• 新完全マスター pg 30 → 38 - deceptive page count, finished the 1st main section and had a few pages of set-up for the next one.
• 三ツ星カラーズ ch 31, 32 - chapter 31 might be one of the cutest chapters of manga i’ve ever read, and i’ve read a lot of cute chapters of manga in my day.

No time to read today, had to spend two hours being a good Swede watching Melodifestivalen, where Sweden decides what song&artist to send to Eurovision Song Contest.

I think our chances are meh. Sending the same artist with a worse song (in my opinion) is not likely to work, but hey, I could be wrong. I watch it for the spectacle, not for the music (too many generic pop songs that don’t really stand out and the artist rarely feel fully authentic singing them (might be pressure though)). Eurovision is even better for that. The clothes, the dancing, the scenography, tends to be pretty out there, and is good for a laugh if nothing else. xD
