May 26th!

Today I read a chapter of Teasing Master Takagi-san.  
It’s become my nice simple Friday night read recently. I like having something thats not too taxing to read on Fridays, since I’m usually really tired out from my work week!

What did I read?: 夜は猫といっしょ Vol 3  
How much did I read?: 23 pages  
How long did it take me?: 11 min

Just a tiny read today because my neck randomly started hurting and now I like…can’t yawn without it sending a shooting pain up my neck to my ear. So that’s fun. (My muscles _really_ hate me this week, first my knee/leg, and now my neck, what did I do to deserve this 😢)  
This panel _cracks me up_ for no reason, but just like…look at him xD

Also, I forgot to mention these yesterday, there were some interesting words:  
爆睡 (ばくすい) - sleeping like a log; (being) fast asleep  
魘される (うなされる) - to cry out in one’s sleep (e.g. from having a nightmare); to moan (in anguish) in one’s sleep - this kanji is neat, I like that it has a demon in it xD

Since the weather was so nice yesterday and I finished my work early, I decided to take a half day and went on a day trip. I got home pretty late, so only managed to do a little bit of reading before I fell asleep holding my book lol.

Seasons was about natural illusions.

I had really wanted to finish JoJo but gave up after falling asleep 2-3 times lol. I’m planning to finish it and hopefully other books today.

Apparently this year the last day of school was an honorary holiday. I don’t remember it being nearly as busy in previous years. Everyone and their mother bought doughnuts to celebrate. So tired…

- 蟲師 特別編 日蝕む翳. Now I really need to get the main series lol
- 22 pages of ステップファザー・ステップ, reading ch 3-2 and 3-3, leaving off on pg 159. Actually I think these “chapters” are sequential short stories, but eh, I’m gonna keep calling them chapters; it’s easier.  
lol the twins call eating sausage and 目玉焼き “cannibalism” because “identical twins” is 一卵性双生児. 一卵性ソーセージ.  
無駄遣いをしなかったのは、偉い。俺の教育がいいから——おっと危ない。今の台詞は取消し。 It’s happening, he’s starting to think of himself as their father! There’s no turning back now!

- aDoBJG - ことになる、ことにする、ことは - [ｘ]ことは[ｘ]けれど is one of my favorite kinds of sentence constructions. something about it just feels very fun. I saw it somewhere, I think fairly recently in 四月は君の噓, but no clue where.
- 新完全マスター pg 86 → 90, two readings. This book has had almost a permanent place on my desk for like a year, so I think I’m going to try to ramp up the amount I do per day because I really really really want to be done and move on to the N2 reading practice lmao
- はちゅねミクの日常、ネギの17, 18, I might come back and read some more later, but I have to do some chore stuff

One of today’s readings was about these guys, トキ, the crested ibis, who are very pretty but also _very_ endangered (but making a comeback). The reading also mentioned they have a color named after them, and I think it was one of @Zakarius’s bonus colors a while back! 鴇色 (ときいろ) - which is a peachy pink, like their wings.

May 27th!

Today I read chapter 4 of ロジカとラッカセイ it was a fun chapter.  
I only needed to read the first half for the BBC this week, but I like to read in whole chapters when I can manage it.

- SPY x FAMILY mission 39. It was so cute `♡`  
I’m a week behind and didn’t even realize it! I hadn’t taken vol 7 off my shelf until yesterday and there were only two poll posts so I assumed this was week 2, but no, it’s week 3 already! (There’s a poll in the OP for week 1, which I’d forgotten about.) I really do have no sense of time, huh
- 月刊少女野崎くん issue 29-30 + おまけ, finishing vol 3! Man, I love this series so much.
- 14 pages of ステップファザー・ステップ, reading the last two sections of ch 3 and leaving off on pg 174. TIL “one-night stand” has a usage in theatre which is what made it into Japanese, and the sexual sense, the only one I’d known, is a slang usage. I had totally the wrong idea going into this story lmao

> ワンナイト・スタンド [n.] 一日限りの芝居. single-night performance (theatre, comedy, etc.). It can also be spelled with no ・ or two—in fact, those are the only two spellings listed by Shirabe Jisho, but Miyabe Miyuki chose to spell it with one, possibly because “one-night” is hyphenated into one word in English (and in the English title, she spelled it incorrectly as “onenight”).
