One of the reasons why I enjoy reading in Japanese is all the expression and metaphors or words with multiple meanings. For example 横這い (よこばい) meaning ‘sideways crawl’ like a crab, but it can also mean ‘stabilizing’ (so the condition is not getting better or worse – it’s crawling sideways, haha). Or 白紙 (はくし) = literally ‘white paper’ but also ‘clean slate’ or ‘beginning’ as in ‘start from scratch’. Tickles my funny bone :ok_hand:
